The court confirmed that management cannot outsource key departments without consulting the Collective Bargaining Agent (CBA) union. This decision strengthens collective bargaining rights and protects thousands of workers across sanitation, water supply, environment, security, and health services. It also sends a clear message: workers’ voices cannot be ignored in decisions that affect their jobs and public services. “It is a major victory for us. The ruling protects our right to represent workers in critical decisions such as outsourcing and privatisation. It also sends a clear message that unions must be consulted and cannot be ignored,” said Asad Mehmood, Additional General Secretary of the CDA Mazdoor Union.
