Precisely because of what you describe, there is no other path forward than working side by side with you, with the democratic opposition, and with those who represent the #AfghanWomen. You embody another #Afghanistan, one that stands in stark contrast with the regime of the #Taliban and that, by its very existence, exposes all the crimes, the cruelty, and the violations on which their power rests. This is why, now more than ever, amplifying your voices is a moral imperative: it serves to remind #Europe and the world that the only choice on the table is not the normalisation of relations with terrorists. There is an alternative, real and democratic, and the more visible it becomes, the harder it will be for any Member State to pretend otherwise. The choice is, in the end, an unequivocal one: standing with a democratic opposition that shares the founding values of the European Union, or with a regime that commits crimes against humanity against its own people. I intend to make sure this choice is impossible to ignore, clearly and without comfortable ambiguities.
