It sounds like the maths newsletter idea interests n people, where n is a positive integer. Amazing. Issue 0 goes out on Wednesday.

Drained after 3 days in a booth recording the audio version of The Art of Uncertainty, with a sensitive mic that picked up every gut-gurgle. Note to self: if there is a next book, write it without maths, figures and tables. And short. amazon.co.uk/Art-Uncertaint…
Was "it's coming home" a thing that football people said constantly during international competitions prior to 1996, or is the prevelance that particular use of that particular phrase entirely down to a mediocre-but-catchy sort-of-comedy novelty britpop single from the mid 90s?
@galoisgirl Glad to see people are finally confronting this issue. There has been far too much undue criticism of the behaviour of whales in recent years :)
@DrBennison@galoisgirl I was tutoring a very good FM student on this and showed him the method that I expect we both prefer. He said that his teacher had shown him a much better method. I asked him what it was and he said he couldn’t remember it but it was a very good method :)
I seem to have got progressively worse during the day today at taking photos in sessions. Loved @galoisgirl ‘s session in the last slot of the day. I’m going to steal the idea of “Proof of the Week” for next year. And I’m glad you don’t like f(k+1)-f(k) style induction either :)
The Exeter City Wall guided tour stops outside our house to look at my neighbour’s place. One day I’m going to go on the tour, pretend I see a key on the ground, pick it up, try it in the door, then walk into the house and shut the door.
@wtgowers@CmonMattTHINK There is a similar move towards teachers asking "What questions do you have?" instead of "Do you have any questions?". I've heard several say that this change has been surprisingly effective.
@CmonMattTHINK I was speaking recently to a mathematician who has had many very successful research students. He told me that instead of saying, "Come back when you've made progress on this problem," he says, "Go away and think about this problem and come back with some questions."
