@boys_nicholas And don’t forget that bricks can be easily replaced when it’s time to dig up the road. This will inevitably result in a scarred patchwork of tarmac repairs. Used to be the bane of my life when trying to create an attractive city centre.

@CllrAHardman If trustees are choosing to invest elsewhere there is a reason. Surely the solution is to create the conditions where the government’s preferred investments give the best return, not to force trustees into suboptimal decisions.

In effect they are taking away the duty trustees have to their members, and when Bells desires loose money will we sue the Government. In effect it makes the illegal at the moment legal. Very poor act.

Labour want to seize sweeping new powers that would allow ministers to force pension schemes to invest in certain ways - even if that leaves savers worse off. The Pensions Minister, Torsten Bell, wants pension pots to be invested in things like net zero projects. (2/7)

Yes squared. I want policeman to be civilised, courteous & authoritative, not kids in puffer jackets & baseball caps. The state’s servants should have status not sloppy fatigues. And post men. Etc. Etc.

Agreed. I think the decline of formal uniform standards is an issue with society as a whole- police, bus/train drivers, park keepers (postmen are especially scruffy looking) If they show high standards of self discipline & self respect, we can more easily respect them too.
