Kershbaum is a hack. She knows enough to get through council hearings and scripted zoom meetings (which is honestly a little bit impressive), but clearly not the person to do a good job for the future of the city as DDOT director






This is a mostly thoughtful column on bike lanes in D.C. from @mffisher, but I have a few quibbles with some of what he writes. washingtonpost.com/opinions/2024/…

Those of us who were here not as transients; who were here during the Marion Barry days of struggle; lack of city services; and tax collection was dismal.

Fourth, the subtext to so many of the criticisms of cycling is that it's expensive and elite. But the obvious counterfactual is rarely considered: cars are much more expensive, and no, not everyone in D.C. has one or can afford one.
