I sincerely urge all supporters of Seyi Makinde to tread carefully before picking a f!ght with Saheed Osupa. This approach will not yield any positive results, especially if those on Osupa’s side decide to respond in full. To begin with, Osupa was invited to perform at the declaration event of Sarafadeen Alli, and he simply fulfilled his role as a musician who was paid to deliver. If another party engages him tomorrow, he will perform for them as well, perhaps even better. That is the nature of his profession. You should be more strategic before going after a musician of his stature, particularly one with a massive and loyal fan base across Oyo State. Let’s not forget that long before many of you aligned with Makinde, Osupa had already popularized that name in many households. So, tread carefully. Not every battle is worth fight!ng. Don’t drag Osupa into your political games. Sit down, assess your media strength, and compare it with the millions of Osupa’s supporters in Oyo state, not to mention Nigeria as a country. Choose your battles wisely. If there’s any good thing to commend about Governor Makinde in relation to Osupa, perhaps it’s the Toyota SUV gift, a gesture that Osupa himself could easily afford. Beyond that, do you really know that Osupa himself lost more than that to the struggle of Seyi Makinde, that he lost an SUV in one of his campaign rallies? Are you prepared for a detailed account of the longstanding relationship between Osupa and Makinde, and everything that has transpired between them over time? Should we bring it up? The news of the abduction of innocent UTME candidates in Benue State is not just heartbreaking but a damning indictment of the failure of leadership and the collapse of security in our nation. Young Nigerians striving for an education are being met with terror. In a country where the share of tertiary graduates is already painfully low (about 1%) which is far below peers like Indonesia (about 13%) and South Africa (around 10%). This is unacceptable. We cannot afford to lose even one more student to violence. Those entrusted with protecting these young students appear increasingly preoccupied with the next election, projecting strength and power to rig elections, rather than deploying that same power and agencies to secure our roads, prevent these crimes, and rescue the abducted children who should not be in the hands of criminals but in examination halls. This is no longer an isolated tragedy. It is a pattern. It is a national crisis. And it demands urgent, decisive, and responsible action, not excuses, not silence, but leadership that matches the scale of the emergency this deserves. As someone born and bred in Ibadan, having lived the first 30yrs of my life in Ibadan and also having my formal education in Oyo State up to master degree level, the choice of whomever emerges as the next governor of Oyo State is very pertinent to me. badan is the only city in the world where I feel this unexplainable peace and tranquility deep inside my soul. Ibadan is home to me and will always be home to me. I don't really care about partisan politics as such, but my real interest is good governance from those in power and delivery of the dividends of democracy to the masses. With what APC has done to the federation in the last eleven years since they took power from Jonathan lead PDP in 2015, in my honest opinion and unbiased judgement, I think APC taking the reins of power in Oyo State will be more like taking Oyo State back to the dark days, which isn't going to be in the best interests of the people resident in the state. A success without a good successor is a disguised failure in waiting. My one utmost desire about Oyo State is that Governor Seyi Makinde gets it right with the choice of his successor, and I hope the people of Oyo State will also vote enmass to ensure victory for the candidate Makinde presents to them as his successor. While APC can easily be cherry-picking on the subject of LGA autonomy to cast aspersion on the leadership of Seyi Makinde in Oyo State, they should at least endeavour to tell Nigerians in how many of the 32 states or so that are under their control where the LGAs have 100% full autonomy. Oyo must continue on the forward trajectory that @seyimakinde has set its course on, and refuse to ally with backward regression that the government at the centre (Federal) has steered Nigeria into.
