As raging floodwaters trapped his fiancée, children, and mother-in-law in their mobile home near the Guadalupe River, Julian did what heroes do—he fought to save them. In the darkness of early Friday morning, he shattered a window to get his loved ones and their pets to the roof. In doing so, he suffered a fatal injury to his arm and bled out before help could arrive. His final words to his sister were filled with love and fear. “Are you okay?” he asked. “I’m scared,” she told him. “Me too,” he replied. That was the last time anyone heard his voice. Julian’s courage and sacrifice are beyond words. Please keep his family—and all those affected by this disaster—in your hearts and prayers tonight. 🕊️

The Tuskeegee Airmen: 1. lost some 25 bombers to enemy fighters; 2. only flew 311 missions. Each man on the mission counts as a separate "sortie"; 3. the stats on all of the 16 fighter groups flying in the Eighth Air Force over western Europe show the TA rank at the bottom of the list; 4. on a normal mission they would put up 64 fighters compared to only 48 for the 8th AF groups; 5. they did mostly ground support missions rather than bomber escort missions; 6. The Congressional Gold Medal they received as a GROUP was for breaking the color ban for pilots--not for military achievements.

The Tuskegee Airmen were the first Black military aviators in the United States who fought in World War II & helped pave the way for desegregation of the military. What they did for this entire NATION, can never and will NEVER be erased. #Tuskegee #BlackHistoryIsAmericanHistory
