(2/2) FADM Sahibul and I also reaffirmed the close and long-standing bilateral defence ties between 🇸🇬 & 🇧🇳 as we commemorate 50 years of defence relations. As we continue to build on this strong foundation, we remain committed in strengthening our partnership in the years ahead.

(1/2) Met with Commander of the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN), First Admiral (FADM) Sahibul Bahari Bin Haji Zainal Abidin, during his introductory visit to 🇸🇬. We discussed ways our Navy & RBN to expand cooperation in mutual interest areas & spoke about regional security developments.

(4/4) The refreshed MCS will apply to those enlisting from October 2027 for the SAF and November 2027 for the Home Team. For those currently serving, the existing system remains in place and continues to safeguard training and safety standards.

(3/4) At the same time, safety remains our top priority. With clearer medical exemptions and more tailored assessments, commanders and trainers will have better guidance to ensure that every serviceman is deployed and trained safely, in line with his abilities.

(1/4) Today, we announced a refresh of the Medical Classification System (MCS) to better deploy our national servicemen in the SAF and Home Team. As the nature of warfare evolves, traditional notions of “combat fitness” are no longer sufficient.

(3/3) GEN Malek also generously gifted us delicious Harumanis mangoes from Malaysia, which I understand are in season now. Under his leadership, I look forward to further strengthening professional ties and mutual understanding between our armed forces. 🇸🇬🤝🇲🇾

(1/3) I welcomed Chief of Defence Force of the Malaysian Armed Forces, GEN Malek, to 🇸🇬 for his introductory visit. I congratulated GEN Malek on his new appointment, and thanked him for his support in deepening cooperation and people-to-people ties between our armed forces.

(2/3) 🇸🇬 and 🇲🇾 share warm and long-standing relations, with regular interactions, joint exercises, and platforms like the FPDA and ADMM. We reaffirm our commitment to work with partners near and far to uphold regional and international security in today’s complex environment.

(3/3) Singapore and Australia share a common strategic outlook, anchored in stable, forward-looking societies. With continued collaboration, both countries can navigate challenges and emerge stronger and more relevant globally. 🇸🇬🤝🇦🇺

(2/3) In an uncertain and fragmenting global environment, shared challenges persist. Our longstanding partnership, together with the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership 2.0, remains a strong foundation to tackle them together.

(1/3) At the @AustChamSG Ministerial Dialogue Series last Wednesday, I spoke on strong Singapore–Australia ties with 100+ participants across defence, digital infrastructure, education and other communities.

(2/2) The Republic of Singapore Navy and @USNavy have forged deep personal and professional ties, collaborating through exercises such as Ex Pacific Griffin and RIMPAC. I look forward to strengthening our cooperation as we continue to forge friendships at sea.

(1/2) A warm welcome to Admiral Daryl Caudle, Chief of Naval Operations of the @USNavy. We reaffirmed the excellent and long-standing defence relationship between 🇸🇬 and 🇺🇸, and also discussed ways to enhance defence cooperation, including between our navies.

(2/2) We also discussed geopolitical developments, including the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, & agreed to work together on cross-regional security challenges such as the security of critical underwater infrastructure & supply chain resilience.

(1/2) German Federal Minister of Defence Boris Pistorius and I last met at the sidelines of the MSC last month. It was a pleasure to meet him again yesterday, this time in Singapore, & we reaffirmed the strong and substantive defence relations between 🇸🇬 and 🇩🇪. @BMVg_Bundeswehr

(1/4) The second @TheRSAF A330 MRTT repatriation flight arrived home safely from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia this morning. Carrying Singaporeans, our friends and the hope of our nation.
