Random thought... My cat is sleeping in a chair. As I walked past, I stopped and petted him as he continued sleeping. The amount of love I felt pouring through my hand into him was overwhelming. It occurred to me that--in that moment of pure love--I never carried a single grudge about all the furniture he had clawed to shreds, the baubles he broke, or anything else he ever did that gave me a moment of frustration. It struck me that God probably loves me in a very similar fashion.

Been researching DC juries this morning. Did you know that DC has a specific school curriculum which is mandatory from 6th to 12th grade which trains them in civic participation including juries? Students are taught how to look past the actual crime and evaluate all charges through "root causes" and equity. There's no chance of a favorable conviction in DC.

While driving to Walmart, I was lectured about racism by my husband’s extremely liberal cousin who lives in the circled area. (She was down here at our family lake house for a reunion. As is proper, I had volunteered to chauffeur her.) At one point, she told me that I should work harder to uplift black people, especially since I’m from the Birmingham area. I kept my mouth shut the entire time. As I pulled into a parking space, another car pulled up two spaces over. As she was opening her door, three black men in their early 20s got out of that car. She immediately closed her door and locked it. I smiled, opened my door to get out of the car, looked back and said, “I thought I was supposed to be the racist one in this equation.” She didn’t say nary a word the rest of the weekend. That happened like 15 years ago, and it still makes me chuckle.

Let's break down why this F-15E Strike Eagle being shot down matters to the legacy media so much this morning. When President Trump declared that we had air dominance over Iran, and then this happens, they were only all too eager to play it up because they want to make the president look bad. This is war. There's always bad things that happen in war. This is why we haven't been frothing at the mouth to go to war and why I don't support boots on the ground. But the legacy media practically cheering this on is disgusting, too. We've successfully flown thousands of sortie missions without incident in Iran. We've transitioned from stealth aircraft (F-35s and B-2s) to non-stealth aircraft as Iran's air defenses have been degraded and destroyed. Despite the air dominance, there is always a chance of our aircraft being shot down by a "golden BB," which is usually heat seeking missiles that are very difficult to detect, and the military pilots flying missions over Iran know this very well. This is war, bad things happen, even when you have such massive dominance of the skies. The fact that ONE F-15E being shot down is such big news only underscores how effective our military actually is.

Went to my son's career day yesterday The teacher said each parent gets 3 minutes I asked if there was a hard stop or if this was more of a "suggested timeline" She said 3 minutes The dad before me was a firefighter. The kids loved it. He brought a helmet. Let them try it on. Very theatrical. My son whispered "don't worry, you're going to do great." I wasn't worried. I brought a pitch deck. Objects aligned perfectly horizontally and vertically. 14 slides. One appendix. Two scenario analyses. A waterfall chart I stayed up until 11pm simplifying so a 5 year old could follow the value creation framework. Slide one: "What is a CFO." Slide two: "What is EBITDA." Slide three: "Why EBITDA matters." Slide four: "Why adjusted EBITDA matters more." I lost the room at slide one. One kid asked if I help people. I said I help companies become more efficient. He asked if that means I fire people. I said no, we right-size. He started crying. The teacher stepped in. Said maybe we could do a Q&A instead. Great pivot. Very collaborative. A girl in the front row asked what I make. I said Excel spreadsheets and PowerPoint decks. She said "my mom makes cupcakes." Different verticals. My son stood up and said "my dad makes companies worth more money so the people who own them can sell them for a lot of money." Dead silence. The teacher said "that's... one way to describe it." My son said "it's the only way to describe it." I have never been more proud of anything in my entire life. I told him that in the car. He said "thanks, can we get Chick-fil-A." @Derooter @Teslarati It was considerable. A couple of examples: a 40-mile drive for wings took 100 miles of range on a sub-20-degree Saturday. A 10-mile drive to a buddy's house took 12% round trip. I just did this same drive last Saturday and lost 3%.
