Hamas offered to return all hostages for a permanent truce. Now Israel is carpet bombing instead of allowing the second stage of the ceasefire to continue as promised. The death toll in less than 24 hours is 419 and counting. The goal was always mass extermination.

No, the ceasefire did not collapse. Israel collapsed it, as they always planned. After two weeks of no supplies to 2 million Palestinians in Gaza, once hunger had returned, Israel unleashed its bombs once again. And so the genocide continues. aljazeera.com/news/2025/3/18…

Once again our timelines are flooded with horrific images of Palestinian babies massacred by the Israeli government. Israel has consistently violated the ceasefire and in the past two weeks, cut off all aid to Gaza. Just last night, they killed 400+ people. This US-backed genocide must end.

Last week, I was expelled from @Columbia for protesting the U.S.-backed genocide in Gaza. As president of @SW_Columbia , Columbia’s student workers union, I was also fired from my job. The Trump administration is pushing their narrative. Here’s the real story. 🧵

Twenty years ago, Gary Webb (1955-2004) killed himself, or did he. In 1996, this veteran investigative reporter published a three-part series in the San Jose Mercury News called 'Dark Alliance'. In it, Gary argued that the roots of the crack cocaine epidemic in California were to be found in the way the US government financed its support of the Nicaraguan Contras against the Sandinista government - which to say, the @CIA and other US organisations involved themselves in the drug trade to skim the profits and finance the anti-Communist terrorists. Webb was pilloried, resigned from the paper, and then went into research work (including publishing a full book called 'Dark Alliance: The CIA, the Contras, and the Crack Cocaine Explosion' (@7StoriesPress, 1998). It was always unlikely that Gary killed himself. I remember talking to Alex Cockburn about this, and he - who had written the great Whiteout: The CIA, Drugs and the Press with Jeff St. Clair, with a section on Webb in the book - had his doubts too (it was like the death of Michael Hastings in 2013, after he had humiliated General Stanley McChrystal in 'The Runaway General' for @RollingStone; Michael came to see me after he left @ConnCollege, and wanted to go to Iraq as a journalist - a trip which resulted in his terrific, Lost My Love in Baghdad: A Modern War Story, @ScribnerBooks, 2008). I don't believe either died by their hand or by accident. But what do I know. Now, what Gary said has been accepted in the general US culture (I mean, for Gary's sake, the 2017 film American Made with Tom Cruise is basically a vindication of Gary's articles). Carter, who died today, Reagan, @BillClinton - while governor and as president - and the rest are all criminals who used drugs to damage the liberation movements in Central America and then to damage the working-class communities in the United States. At @tri_continental, look out for our dossier next year on Cocaine, the War on Drugs, and the Latin American campesinos.

For every article that explains the "achievement gap" in terms of Black boys not wanting to "act white", I wish there were ten articles about white curricula everywhere that value and nurture White achievement.

Israel’s Knesset has approved a bill criminalising denial of Israel’s version of events of October 7th, those who break this law could face 5 years in prison. What is Israel’s version of events? That the militia of an open-air concentration camp with nothing but light arms, caused this level of destruction on October 7th. Thanks to brave reporting from independent media in the West and some Israeli journalists, we know that Israel implemented the Hannibal Directive, where Israeli helicopter gunships unloaded their bullets and rockets on anything that moved in a mass application of the directive to prevent Israelis being taken hostage by Hamas, who would then be used in hostage negotiations to free the thousands of Palestinian prisoners. The now debunked mass rape claims are also now enshrined in law, meaning questioning these debunked claims, or even saying that they have been debunked, could land you in prison in Israel.

The long term consequences of your silence far outweigh the short term consequences for speaking out & organizing against genocide. The world that will result from this silence, complicity, & indifference won’t be kind to those who think their silence will protect them forever.

🚨 ACTION ALERT from @ACLU: In a clear reaction to pro-Palestine protests, the House might pass legislation that would hand the government a dangerous tool to stifle free speech and punish disfavored groups.  Tell your reps to vote NO on H.R. 9495. action.aclu.org/send-message/d…
