@Scobleizer This is one of the reasons we came up with an AI powered reflection journal for high schoolers. They have so much difficulty talking to people post covid that AI gives them a trusted confident to talk about their feelings. amazon.com/Hansei-Reflect…

AI parenting help. My 14-year-old son had a rough day yesterday. He is in a small group of friends who meet on Discord every day and play video games. A month ago one of these friends committed suicide and yesterday another one threatened to do the same. The other kid is gay and has very conservative parents and feels that coming out will cause him to get kicked out of the house or worse. My son talked him out of it. But this is a parenting challenge I didn’t expect. So I asked ChatGPT: “My son's friend threatened to kill himself. My son talked him out of doing this. This kid has very conservative parents and is gay and doesn't know how to communicate with his parents about it and he was ripped up about it. What can I do to support my son better with this kind of problem?” It answered very well. It is one reason I am so pro AI. It will help people deal with unexpected problems. Is your first impulse to ask AI when you have a new parenting problem? Here is its answer: ***** Supporting your son through this challenging situation involves both emotional support and practical guidance. Here are some steps you can take: 1. **Open Communication**: Encourage your son to share his feelings and experiences with you. Let him know that he can talk to you about anything without fear of judgment or dismissal. Active listening is key here—acknowledge his emotions and validate his concerns. 2. **Educate Yourself**: Understand the issues faced by LGBTQ+ youth, especially those from conservative backgrounds. Familiarize yourself with the unique challenges they face, including coming out, dealing with family rejection, and the mental health implications. Resources from organizations like The Trevor Project and PFLAG can be helpful. 3. **Provide Resources**: Equip your son with information on how to support his friend. This can include hotlines, websites, and local LGBTQ+ support groups. The Trevor Project, for example, offers crisis intervention and suicide prevention services specifically for LGBTQ+ youth. 4. **Encourage Professional Help**: Suggest that your son gently encourage his friend to seek professional help. This could be through a school counselor, a trusted teacher, or a mental health professional. Emphasize the importance of talking to someone who can provide professional guidance. 5. **Support Networks**: Help your son understand the importance of community and peer support. Encourage him to stay connected with friends and support groups that can offer emotional support and practical advice. 6. **Model Acceptance**: Show acceptance and understanding in your own behavior. This will not only make your son feel supported but also demonstrate to him how to be a supportive friend. 7. **Discuss Boundaries**: It's important for your son to know his limits and not feel solely responsible for his friend's well-being. Encourage him to take care of his own mental health and seek help when needed. 8. **Plan for Crisis Situations**: Develop a plan for what to do if the friend is in immediate danger. This includes knowing who to contact and how to ensure the friend gets help quickly. 9. **Stay Informed**: Keep the lines of communication open with your son about how his friend is doing and any ongoing issues. This will help you stay aware and provide timely support. These steps can help your son navigate this complex situation with empathy and care, while also ensuring he is not overwhelmed by the responsibility.

@Scobleizer This is the age old problem of resistance to change. The old antiquated ideas trying to clawing their way back to relevance. We like it actually. The longer they resist, the quicker the whole dumpster goes up in flames. #WhatsNext

Education needs an overhaul and we all know it. Teachers who use AI-sensing technology are evil and should be called out as such. The technology does not work. Period. It should be banned from all classrooms. Teachers: find a different way to figure out if your students are doing the work.

No lies detected! I had to tweet-shout this because my brother is getting called out for using ChatGPT in assignments at postgrad level as we speak. Just days ago he had to write a paragraph on the spot in class (on a question asked by the lecturer) and the AI detector still said it was likely ChatGPT! These things aren’t just Twitter banter by Graham and co. It’s affecting real humans and undermining trust in honest writers.

Some out-of-touch CEO who hasn't coded in decades thinks AI is replacing software engineers 🙄 These 'geniuses' believe building real software is as simple as asking a chatbot. Let's get real (🧵)
