Wow. Dom gets it. This is why everyone should wrestle! Great reflection Dom. This is better than a trophy.

A lot of wisdom in this ode to wrestling from Dom Serrano. Great career too! 👏🏼

There are legit injuries. But I've been around a long time. I've seen guys with constantly dislocating shoulders finish 3rd. And guys with dislocated fingers trying to pop them back in during the match so they don't have to take injury time. Toughest shit I've ever seen. I will give Ryder that he has a long career ahead so maybe didn't want to make it worse. But most of these guys should be lacing up. That's my stance and it's kind of something every one of us has done for decades. These kids aren't more special or any more injured than those that came before them.

@adamtirapelle In Ryder’s defense, he wrestled to AA with a dislocated shoulder & has been hurt since the Big 12s.

If me and @roper165 were gonna do a Mega Elite Scramble camp this summer where should we do it? We haven’t done a camp together in 10 years.

I'm not sure how Coe's inclusion would even be in doubt. I get the bottom half of the conference isn't strong this season but they are 7-2 with a quality win over Central and two competitive losses against top-7 teams.

Nick Saban once said...
“If you want to make everyone happy, don’t be a leader; sell ice cream.”
Leadership is hard. It is earned. It is an inside-out process.
What are the Traits of the Best Team Leaders?
Here are 9 of them.
1: Commitment Level
Everything in team success begins with Commitment. Your leaders HAVE to be committed. They are bought in. They have put in the time. They are invested, and because of that, TEAM success means something to them.
2: Work Ethic
The best leaders are your hardest workers. They lead by example with how hard they work. They bring out this work ethic in others.
3: Trusted and Respected
Great team leaders have the trust and respect of their teammates. They have EARNED this trust. They make good choices. They treat their teammates well. They are inclusive.
4: We > Me
The best team leaders are about TEAM success. They have a broad-based perspective. They want what is best for the Team. They are willing to do what it takes to help the Team win. It is not about them.
5: Competitive Spirit
Great leaders are highly competitive. They want to Win. They know HOW to win. This spirit is contagious with others on the team. This spirit creates a culture of winning and success.
6: Bought into the Culture
The best leaders are bought into the team culture. They are the "Gatekeepers" of the team culture. The "True" Culture of the team is the standard that team leaders allow. This is incredibly important in successful teams.
7: Relationship Builders
The best team leaders connect and build relationships with ALL of their teammates. They understand the power of positive interaction and energy and the impact this has on a team.
8: Willing to Hold Others Accountable
The best team leaders are willing to confront and challenge teammates when needed. They become "junior firefighters" and put out the small fires behind the scenes that can happen in a team. They hold others Accountable.
9: They Inspire
The best leaders have the ability to inspire their teammates and those around them. It is hard to do. This is the pinnacle of leadership.

One of the greatest posts/perspectives/shares in the wrestling community ever…
Bravo @cylersanderson! 👏🏼
I’ll never forget all the extra time spent at practices, workouts and tournaments with my Dad & Brother. In the moment you don’t realize it- those trips and rides seem mundane. But, that time is precious. One of my favorite things to see during the NCAA finals are the families- because you can feel their passion and closeness, whether watching in person or on screen. You can tell they have been on a journey together, one that has brought them closer.
Wrestling is a family sport and a journey! 🙌🏼

Telling wrestlers to retire after college is one of the dumbest things we do in this sport.
We’ve built this weird culture where if you’re not making world teams every year, it’s time to “move on.” Only ONE guy gets the spot. so every other elite wrestler should just quit? That’s wild.
Still healthy? Still hungry? Keep going. Wrestling isn’t just for champs. it’s for lifers.
And let’s be real:
•The average UFC champion is 33 years old
•Burroughs won a World title at 33
•David Taylor won his first World/Olympic medal at 30
•Dake didn’t make his first team until he was 27
If they had listened to the “you’re too old” crowd, we’d have never seen their greatness.
This “retire if you’re not #1” or “go get a real job” mentality? It’s toxic. And honestly, it’s usually coming from people who quit too early and want you to follow them.
Look at jiu-jitsu—grown men and women still throwing down in their 30s, 40s, 50s… and the sport is thriving because of it.
Wrestling doesn’t end at 22. It ends when you say it does.
