EXCLUSIVE: FG cuts tariffs on cars, palm oil, sugar in new 2026 fiscal policy measures The federal government has approved the implementation of 2026 fiscal policy measures (FPM), which include significant tariff amendments. It means the total effective tariff on fully built imported passenger cars, 4WDs, and station wagons drops to 40%—a cut from the 70% rate in the 2015 FPM (which the 2026 measures now update). Importers pay less duty overall, so expect cheaper landed costs and potentially lower retail prices for imported vehicles in Nigeria. A 90-day grace period applies for any Form M opened before April 1.

I could write a love letter to Range Rover. Starting from when I was 5. I’d title it, ‘My Dad’s Range Rover.’ I could write a frustrating letter to that same vehicle. It was the one car out of several I saw had its own ‘mechanic.’ Even as a kid, I just knew this car was different: in many good and bad ways. About 30 years on, I can write about my love for Range Rover today and I can also tell you how so frustrating it can be. To this morning. Leo Da Silva is right. Of course he is. But some things are to be loved and hated. Like a babe you love so much but you know comes with in-built annoyance. Funny how I’d cut such a girl off because humans should behave like machines, but my love-hate relationship with the Range Rover is certain to last a lifetime.
