Fun fact: Throughout high school and college, I worked at Davido’s Pizza & Wings. I learned so many endless lessons there. It’s 3.14 day, and I decided to do it the 3.75 way! Happy Pi Day peeps!

I was treated to two extraordinary birthday surprises today: @DeKalbSchools Board of Education invited my birthday greetings just before our Board meeting started & our Senior Cabinet surprised me with song & vegan birthday cake! What a way to bring in the Big 4-8!

Today was truly a treat! I had the opportunity to model a literacy strategy in an AP Stats class, centering on metacognition while analyzing math texts. Thank you to Ms. Bullock and her students for the warm welcome and full engagement in the learning! #MathIsLIT #MathLiteracy

Yesterday’s CCV at Columbia High School showcased intentional growth from fall to winter. The team was very purposeful in capturing progress through artifacts, instructional shifts, and aligned practices. Clear evidence that feedback was reflected on and applied.

Was treated to a full circle moment of Black Excellence in this glorious Black History Month. Dr. Mary Robinson began teaching @DeKalbSchools in 1971!-She also taught Mr. Ennis Harvey in HS.-Today she was reintroduced to him as Chief of Staff for 30th largest District in the USA.

Round 3 of support today! Today we took it from planning to practice. The ESOL push-in teacher guided the students through creating Frayer Models and building anchor charts to support with vocabulary before engaging in the “Basketball Star” @GaDOEMath learning plan.

The second phase of the cycle is complete! Today I co-planned with the ESOL push-in math teacher to flesh out lessons with targeted support for next week. We chose to focus on vocabulary enrichment through tiered anchor charts! Stay tuned for the results next week!

One-on-one support is my fave! Today we unpacked the @GaDOEMath Algebra Language Companion and identified appropriate scaffolds to support the learning plans. I created a compressed tool to help easily identify the scaffold according to language proficiency.
