Change is certain. Readiness isn’t. | Change will happen. The question is, will your leaders and teams be ready when it does? That’s where I come in.

Emotions drive change. If employees are excited and optimistic, they’re going to help you drive your initiatives forward. Likewise, if they’re scared, frustrated, or anxious they will not be quite as responsive. #Change_TheConversation #ManagingChange #ChangeLeadership

The managers delivering those conversations this week are carrying something most leadership development completely ignores, the weight of leading people through change they didn’t choose and can’t control. That’s the gap that breaks transformation efforts. Not bad strategy.

Amazon's laying off another 16,000 people this week. No one prepares the management team for this part of the job. What we see in change readiness work is that even well-intentioned leaders freeze in these moments. Not because they don’t care, but because they’ve never been...

I’m noticing Ai isn’t just changing the way we work, it’s also changing our vernacular. We’re now using these words more: Prompt Image Gem Asset Artifacts Image What else are you hearing?

@girdley It’s also football 🏈 season, and many purchased the NFL package. And are likely to do so on their big screens.

Leaders who can’t self-regulate under pressure don’t just struggle, they tank your EBITDA. If you’re rolling out a reorg, turnaround, tech shift, or acquisition in 2026, your leaders need more than templates and talking points. They need emotional foresight and strategy.

I see what leaders don’t. You’re looking at the expected outcome. I’m looking at what’ll keep you from getting there.

VP of Sales watching the CEO rollout a ‘brilliant’ change initiative for the commercial team, that he’s just now hearing about. No strategy. No alignment. Just vibes.

@EastSideStaff It really is. I love watching it all plays out in people and the roles they have in the workplace.

@EastSideStaff They really like their policies. LOL. So, the assessment I give assesses change personalities. How we all approach change is inherent, with one of three approaches. They usually fall in the Conserver category.

@Docta_Rob Fear of change. Yes. I’ve seen this too. The “why” behind that is probably very layered

@EastSideStaff They’re not happy about making changes, unless they have a really compelling reason to do so. It’s funny because now I see it, play out when in HR circles.

If you're an entrepreneur, tons of Wannabe Entrepreneurs reach out. Want advice, how to do it, what to pursue, etc. I'd spend a half-hour or more with them (I had more free time back in the day!). Helping out. It was fun. Felt good to give back. The fact was that more than 95% of them would never take any action at all. Years in, I rarely take these kind of meetings unless someone has at least some evidence that they're willing to start and put in the work. It's much less frustrating.

@EastSideStaff It’s shown that there’s a personality type that’s attracted to HR. As far as the self-worth piece, I think that may just be coincidental, based on their leader.

@EastSideStaff LOL. I give a Change Styles assessment and almost always the HR leaders I assess have the same results, and I often ask, do they go into HR because they are this way, or do they become this way after being in HR? I have the same question here. Which preceded the other?

@Docta_Rob @AlanAllard I also want to note that there were times when CEOs said no and so some HR pros blame that 'I have heard no before so I never ask again' and as we teach more about being strategic leaders--we learn resilience is the name of the game. Have to keep showing up. <3

@Docta_Rob @AlanAllard ...really comes down to realizing one's own worth and then speaking up about it. Most CEOs are thrilled to have strategic HR Leaders who believe in their own teams. It's layered! But I find the root cause is found in a poor sense of self-worth, and it's fixable!
