The Kansas HALO Act (CCR 2372) passed both chambers with veto-proof supermajorities this session. It will increase safety for both the public and our law enforcement officers by creating a 25 foot buffer-zone that must be maintained when an officer directs onlookers to stay back for safety. The bill also allows for our sherriffs to enter into 287(g) agreements with federal immigration enforcement to keep our streets safe from criminal illegals.
