Production (and censorship!) is hard and nobody wants this to happen, so not sending shade to anyone.
But as someone who spends a lot of time trying to expand the reach Indian Cinema in North America, I promise you this is a growing impediment to that.

It's crazy that because films finish last minute, fans have to know what KDMs are and which theater gets DCPs on hard drive.
It puts fans, distributors and theaters in a terrible position.
It happens a lot more than it should happen, and it should never happen.

#DhurandharTheRevenge 2nd half has just been sent to Qube. Electronic locations will have no issues. Keep a close watch on hard drive locations and have a backup theater ready just in case

It is hard for non-tentpole films to get runs in Dolby Atmos, so this is a great use of the format and now that I have my tickets in the sweet spot dead center of the good Dolby near me I encourage everyone else to reward this behavior.

@sunraycine True, but there are even fewer of those in the field, and when a theater has Atmos or DTS:X it's almost always in the PLF where availability is locked down 90% of the time by the major studios.
Indie films are doing creative things with Atmos, just need a place to play 'em!

@DylanMarchetti DTS:X rooms offer the same experience now that the war between the two formats is over. Atmos files now play in DTS:X rooms and vice versus due to the new and horribly named IAB format.
