European Union Mission in Armenia

Our team in Jermuk was happy to visit School No. 2. 🤩 EUMA team members engaged in a friendly football match with the students. In the end, student team enjoyed a tight victory, winning 7:6. ⚽️ Building trust between local societies is important for the Mission. We are delighted to contribute to peace and stability in the region. 🇦🇲🇪🇺

On 19 March, Acting Head of Mission Mr. Marek Kuberski, accompanied by monitors, visited the European University of Armenia in Kapan. We presented the Mission’s mandate and activities to 6️⃣0️⃣ students and teachers. 🇦🇲🇪🇺 Thank you for warm hospitality, fruitful discussions and keen interest! 🤩

NGO Women’s Agenda joined EUMA last week to provide a training to Mission Members on Armenia’s third National Action Plan on Women, Peace, and Security. 🙌🕊️ The Mission is grateful to learn from Armenian NGOs spearheading the advancement of gender equality and WPS efforts! 🇪🇺🇦🇲

EUMA monitors from Jermuk were pleased to visit Gomk Secondary School on March 1️⃣1️⃣, where they introduced students and teachers to EUMA’s tasks, equipment, and vehicles. On International Women's Day, we recognise their indispensable contribution to lasting peace. Research shows peace agreements are more likely to endure when women take part in peace processes. 1⃣2⃣ young artists were welcomed at EUMA Headquarters for a Youth Talk. During the event EUMA monitors presented the Mission’s activities and equipment to give participants insights into our work on the ground. Yesterday, Head of Mission Markus Ritter met with the Governor of Vayots Dzor Province Vahagn Arsenyan. Mr. Ritter thanked for the warm welcome of the Mission and cooperation so far. Today, EUMA celebrated its Third Anniversary. The event was combined with the farewell of the Head of Mission Dr. Markus Ritter, who stated: "In the past three years EUMA has contributed to a more stable security situation on the ground. The local population feels more secure and safer due to our presence. We are patrolling around-the-clock along the border. Personally, I am happy to see that the situation has been improved and the incidents at the border have significantly decreased.
