In Burkina Faso 🇧🇫, the Council of Ministers, led by Captain Ibrahim Traoré, approved a decree to dissolve all political parties and groups in the country. The government also passed a bill to cancel laws on party activities, funding, and the role of the opposition leader. Party assets will go to the state. Minister Émile Zerbo said the move aims to fix abuses in the multiparty system, reduce divisions, and strengthen national unity as part of state rebuilding.

Army Commander misused the ‘exterminate’ word – Lufuma diggers.news/local/2026/01/…

#BanaBaabo- Could this be the reason why that Army Commander was sent to intimidate citizens with language of extermination and fumigation? Linda Banks writes ✍🏾 Are Zambians being chased away from their own mines so that foreign interests, particularly American corporations, can gain unchecked access to our minerals? If this is true, then it represents a profound betrayal of the people. Our land, our livelihoods, and our dignity must never be treated as expendable. The role of the military is to protect citizens, not to frighten them into silence while they are pushed aside. With immediate effect, the Government should put in place clear and enforceable measures to ensure that Zambian citizens legally and meaningfully benefit from the God given natural resources beneath their own soil. These resources are a national inheritance, meant to uplift the people, strengthen communities, and secure the future of generations yet unborn. Zambia’s wealth does not belong to outsiders protected by fear and force. It belongs to Zambians. What a shame. What a tragedy. What a dangerous path for a democracy.
