In line with the directives of the Inspector General Of Police IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu PSC(+) NPM, officers of the Command led by the Commissioner Of Poice CP Monday Agbonika fdc, fully mobilized to ensure a successful and meaningful commemoration of the event. As part of the activities, a sanitation exercise was carried out in key areas such as the ever busy Oba Market and Ibiwe Street in Benin City, demonstrating the Command’s commitment to environmental cleanliness and public health. Additionally, Personnel from the Directorate of Force Medical Services were on ground to provide free medical services to citizens of Edo State. The initiative witnessed a significant turnout, as members of the public benefited from medical consultations, basic treatments, and health advice.

PRESS RELEASE RE: ALLEGATIONS OF CORRUPTION AND AIDING ESCAPE OF BIGAMY SUSPECT AGAINST CSP ADESUWA OMORUYI, DPO AIDEYAN DIVISION The Edo State Police Command wishes to categorically refute the allegations circulating in certain quarters by a group styled as the “Freedom Ambassadors Organization,” accusing the Divisional Police Officer, Aideyan Division, CSP Adesuwa Omoruyi, of corrupt practices, conspiracy, and aiding a suspect to evade justice. The Command states unequivocally that these claims are false, misleading, and do not reflect the true sequence of events. On the 12th of March, 2026, the Aideyan Police Division received a complaint of alleged bigamy involving one Mr. Ajayi Patrick, who was reported to be contracting a marriage at the Federal Marriage Registry on the 14th of March, 2026, despite an existing marital union. Following a distress call received on the said date, police operatives were promptly mobilized to the venue by the DPO. Upon preliminary interview, the complainant, one Igho Joy of No. 156, Upper Mission Extension, was requested to provide documentary proof, particularly the marriage certificate of the alleged existing marriage, to substantiate the claim of bigamy. While investigation was still trying to establish a prima facie case of bigamy, the suspect, Mr. Ajayi Patrick, was granted bail to a reasonable surety In line with standard police procedure. The surety, one Mr Enabulele Sampson, aged 64 years, was given a clear instruction to produce the suspect at the station on the 17th of March, 2026. However, the surety failed to honour the bail conditions as directed and therefore has been arrested. Investigation has revealed that the suspect has fled the country to Canada in a bid to evade investigation. Consequently, the Command has contacted international police (INTERPOL) to aid in tracking down and apprehending the fleeing suspect. Nevertheless, the surety, having failed in his legal obligation to produce the suspect as required under the bail conditions, is being arraigned before a court of competent jurisdiction, to show cause why the bail bond should not be forfeited. The Edo State Police Command emphasizes that at no point did its officers act outside the ambit of the law. All actions taken were in strict compliance with established legal procedures and professional policing standard, as the offence of bigamy is bailable. The Command therefore urges members of the public to disregard the unfounded allegations and refrain from spreading misinformation capable of undermining public confidence in the Edo state Police Command.
