I guess I can cross "this year I swear I'll use Twitter more" off my list of 2023 resolutions.

If you're on Mastodon, let me know so I can follow you there! The non-algorithmic timeline means I'm much more likely to be active, I think.

Somebody else's D&D character has no value to the majority of gamers - the convenience of saving a little time in chargen is completely negated by the lack of personal connection. What on earth made Gripnr think anyone would want this? NFTbros strike again.

Reading more about Gripnr, I am reminded yet again that if you want to disrupt an industry, it's probably best to understand something about that industry and its customers first. Just another blockchain "solution" to a problem that doesn't actually exist. thegamer.com/dungeons-and-d…

My neighbour, the guy who plays his steel drums at all hours, is learning the trumpet. I live in fear.

I really should know better than to try to order from Menulog - it just never works out. So much for breakfast.

True friendship is pretending you've never seen that meme before, and laughing like it's the first time.

I cannot get past how bad the new Outlook for Mac is. It just completely removes a whole ton of functionality that I used every day. This is no better than the web app now. Ugh.

@lyndaljane Not sure anyone from regional NSW expects any better from a NSW premier by now. We all know that if it's outside Sydney/Wollongong/Newcastle they don't care.

I'm sure Microsoft had a good reason for forcing Office 365 to install on C: drive and no option to only install some of the apps. Fantastic design. Love it.

Always sad to find an old friend has been swayed by RWNJs and conspiracy theories.

"get vaccinated!!!" feels like it's becoming the new JUST VOTE, in that, yep, great to do, very important, done by itself isn't going to fix everything now currently broken & getting worse but puts all the blame for how fucked things are on the general populace

Okay, but why is so much NFT art so _bad_? Like, apart from the fact that the whole thing is a ridiculous Ponzi scheme, at least they could use art people would actually care to own.

I am very pleased that so few of my friends have turned out to be antivaxxers. I am very sad that the number isn't zero, though.

@scalzi I spent a lot of years doing work that was procedural/process-driven. When I switched to a knowledge worker job, I spent a lot time feeling like a fraud because I wasn’t actively Doing Work constantly, sometimes I was just... thinking. Professionally. It’s a huge paradigm shift.
