Is this going off of Speed? Like if I mega something that slower than the Pokemon switching out would the switch out happen first ? Example: Say I mega drampa, and greninja switches out since greninja is faster would that switch happen before my mega ?

Mega evolution now happens before switching, meaning you can now immediate override weathers from megas like charizard Y and tyranitar by switching in a weather mon Likewise something like mega manectric would always intimidate then the other side switches out

@rowanwhall I think the best assumption we should be making is they tried to do it, found some reason why it’s more difficult than they previously thought, and decided to hold off on release so they can add it later when it works as intended.
To assume they didn’t even try is false imo

I’m excited for champions but this really is kinda pathetic on their part. Replays in a turn based game should be trivial

Why are we dumbing the game down in multiple ways in order to appease the hypothetical new player who is too dumb to figure out things most current players literally figured out in 5 minutes, often times as children? Do they think people are dumb? Do people like that even exist?

It’s valuable for sure, but it’s extremely far from beginner friendly. It’s more likely for a beginner to play a mainline and get into comp than shdwn

@fagotaku @mecha_vividley Because showdown is barebones and teaches you literally nothing, while Champions aims to actually teach the new player how to play. You’re bashing the service that only charges money if you want to save time, which TIME is more of a barrier to entry than MONEY for salarymen.

@DinomiteVGC @a_gay_whale This argument doesn’t make any sense though, because if you want to make anything other than an EV change it’ll take you 5 minutes to send it to S/V, make the change, and send it back. EVs were the pain point but those are the easiest and cheapest changes.

@a_gay_whale The issue with a system like this is that you have to play several games with a team that you are trying to change just to have the ability to change it. On cart you grind separately and do changes whenever you need but in champions you have to spam a team you don't want to play

I don't understand the VP controversy isn't it a lot lot better to earn by playing vgc rather than having to spam bot battles in the games; like, we always had to grind resources this lets me earn them while actually playing the game

@victryena Also the pre-evos is a niche playstyle, it’s probably easier for them to release it in a package saying “BOOM EVIOLITE AND HERES ALL THE POKEMON WHO USE IT BEST” rather than have newcomers wonder why Clefairy is tankier than Mega Clefable.

no murkrow, p2, clefairy, magmar/electabuzz, etc is eviolite too hard of a concept for new players 💀 im assuming this is their way of cutting corners to avoid adding the whole dex. hopefully they add exceptions. also no replays in big 2026 lol bajillion dollar franchise btw

@victryena Replays require servers to be set up and maintained. That or your console would need to be rigged via the software to always save replays of every match until a point where they’re auto deleted. A 20 minute match could be several gigabytes of data, which isn’t feasible.

@MudkipNerd_ I am so tired of the anti salaryman takes from the community. SOME people exchange money for time. It is PHYSICALLY impossible to make Pokémon pay to win, because I can get the identical Tyranitar you can. If you want to force it to take us both 8 hours, that is just insane.

@MudkipNerd_ It’s balanced so that the toughest part of training is solved through the main line games, and the toughest part of training in the main line games is solved through Champions.
Using both avenues guarantees you’d have to pay no more than the price of the games you already own.

@TypeKurto @Neyav56 @im_a_blisy I think this is good though, cuz remember how hard getting a 0 IV bloodmoon is? Situations like that are PURE RNG and completely unnecessary for competitive. The grinding part of Pokemon shouldn’t be rerolling the lotto for good stats, it should be the actual training itself!

if this is the case and -you get 200 VP/battle win -250 vp to change move -500 VP to change nature -500 VP to change ability -128 VP to change stats the model is nearly predatory. You are effectively forced to shell out every month. very disappointed @playpokemon

@TypeKurto @Neyav56 @im_a_blisy No that literally is what will happen lol, all IVs become 31, I think that’s only while they’re in champions, so they’ll revert to their old IVs if you take them out.
Champions will be the competitive platform, so it’ll never be possible to have a zero IV which is fine tbh.
