This right here is the problem of Nigerians. We adapt to anything at blistering speeds. Gas is expensive, ditch it and start using charcoal. Sachet water is expensive, ditch it and start drinking well. They are kidnapping in the rural areas, ditch it and move to urban arrears. Fuel is too expensive, pack car at home and take public transport. Foreign rice is too expensive, ditch it and buy cheap local and stony ones instead. They kidnap and kill one child, hold the remaining ones tight and keep praying. We don't have a limit to our ability to suffer. We are the most useless and gullible citizens on the planet.

2000+ Naira per Kg of gas? When One bag of charcoal is 6k! I don go buy coal pot.

Sad: Our Children Are Now Pawns in a Deadly Ransom Economy It’s heartbreaking to report yet another bandit attack on a school, barely three weeks after over 40 schoolchildren and their teachers were abducted and are still languishing in the forest. The security situation in Kogi State has taken another tragic turn with a brutal bandit attack on Government Secondary School, Iluke, in Kabba-Bunu LGA. Armed bandits disguised in military uniforms invaded the school during an ongoing WAEC examination, killed the Vice Principal, Mr. Gani Anifowose, and attempted a mass abduction of students. Reports from the scene indicate that local security personnel and vigilantes actively resisted the attackers and frustrated their abduction attempt. Making educational institutions soft targets is a direct assault on the nation’s future. It creates a psychological barrier to school enrolment and worsens Nigeria’s out-of-school children crisis, disproportionately forcing young girls out of formal education due to fear. There is nothing more heartbreaking for a nation than being unable to protect its children. My heartfelt condolences go to the family of the Vice Principal, who lost his life while gallantly defending the children entrusted to his care. May God grant his soul eternal repose.-PO

Earlier this morning, I paid a visit to Union Primary School, Igbo-Ukwu. This is one of the public primary schools my team and I are renovating for the prupose of providing our pupils with a conducive learning environment. Having succeeded in re-roofing one of the classroom blocks, the rest of the project - flooring, provision of comfortable chairs and white boards, study materials, etc - will be given proper attention. The education of young people in Aguata is at the core of our agenda. We believe in the future and the future begins today. For us, Impossibility is Nothing.

Peter Obi considering another party switch after publicly pledging loyalty raises serious questions about political consistency and integrity. In politics, people pay attention not just to promises, but to commitment. If loyalty to a party can change this easily, many Nigerians will naturally wonder how firm campaign promises would be when power eventually comes. Beyond popularity and social media support, Nigeria’s political structure is far more complex than many people think. Managing alliances, party interests, internal crises and national expectations requires more than good public perception. Nigeria is not just about having a good candidate. It’s about building a stable political structure that can survive pressure, conflicts and power struggles.

My leader @PeterObi, unfortunately this is where we part ways. My support for you was largely based on the efforts that I have seen from you in fighting for democratic, free, and fair elections. However, your pattern of resigning from political parties solely because of external pressure (PDP, LP, and now ADC) is uncharacteristic of a leader with the ability to fight for what is right. You cower in the face of pressure and you run for soft landing else where. This is not the type of leadership Nigeria needs given its dire situation, and certainly not the type of politics that we need going into 2027. My hate for Tinubu is bigger than my love for a better Nigeria at the moment. So I will align with whom I believe can end Tinubu. Best wishes.

BREAKING; Peter Obi Resigned from ADC Peter announced his departure from ADC. He said, “Let me state clearly: my decision to leave the ADC is not because our highly respected Chairman, Senator David Mark, treated me badly, nor because my leader and elder brother, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, or any other respected leaders did anything personally wrong to me. I will continue to respect them. “However, the same Nigerian state and its agents that created unnecessary crises and hostility within the Labour Party that forced me to leave now appear to be finding their way into the ADC, with endless court cases, internal battles, suspicion, and division, instead of focusing on deeper national problems and playing politics built more on control and exclusion than on service and nation-building.”

She remains in the harsh and harrowing custody of the kidnappers until this night of Day 7. We are working on a flier that carries detailed information about her. I will post the flier tomorrow. My heart is heavy and breathing very fast doing this 💔 💔 💔. My eyes are blurry and saturated. Thank you for your care and concern.

My youngest sister has been kidnapped 💔! She was kidnapped on Monday, 13 April 2026, on her way to Abuja to report for duties from Ogun State. We have not gotten precise information about where the incident happened. She reached us briefly around 12.am Wednesday, 15 April 2026, that she has been kidnapped since on Monday without details of who kidnapped her, why, and where she is before the phone was taken from her. Now, they have been calling me until this moment demanding N100 million naira. Where do I raise 100 million naira? I can't even raise 100 thousand naira. They are calling me with registered numbers. Our preliminary findings have it that this happened in Kabba, Kogi State, Nigeria. I have been to three different police stations. One in Lagos and the two at Mowe and Redeemed Police stations. The police stations have no tracking system and that since there is no information about location, police said they can't work. I called police national PPRO. He said I should go and report it at the nearest police station after I had already reported. While trying to explain further, he ended the call and did not pick up my calls again until now. She remains in the harsh and harrowing den of the kidnappers until now. I do not want to lose my sister. She is a very young girl who is just starting life. Please rescue her alive, safely, and complete. @PoliceNG @HQNigerianArmy @PoliceNG_CRU @TunjiDisu1 @aleeygiwa @CspIniedu @NigAirForce @KogiPoliceNG @OfficialDSSNG @NuhuRibadu @officialABAT @aonanuga1956 @atiku @Brightgoldenboy @PeterObi @NGRPresident @NigeriaGov @BTOofficial @BolajiADC @davido @wizkidayo @DONJAZZY

PRESS STATEMENT FEDERAL MINISTRY OF FINANCE FALSE ALLEGATION OF HIDDEN SPENDING AND DIVERSION OF FEDERATION REVENUE   The attention of the Federal Ministry of Finance has been drawn to recent media reports and commentaries that misrepresent the findings of the latest Nigeria Development Update by the World Bank, particularly claims suggesting that a significant portion of federation earnings is being “diverted” or constitutes “hidden spending".   These interpretations misrepresent the World Bank’s analysis and reflect a misunderstanding of the fiscal system. MISINTERPRETATION OF FAAC DEDUCTIONS   The misreporting in question incorrectly characterises Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) deductions as “waste” or missing funds. This is incorrect.   FAAC deductions, as presented in the World Bank report, include:   Statutory transfers, Savings and investments, Security-related expenditures, Cost-of-collection charges, Refunds to Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), Transfers and interventions benefiting subnational governments.   It is important to emphasise that refunds and transfers to states and other tiers of government are not leakages. They represent legitimate fiscal flows, including repayments of obligations and statutorily backed allocations. SELECTIVE USE OF OUTDATED DATA   Some commentaries selectively relied on past data while ignoring the forward-looking analysis and ongoing public financial management reforms highlighted in the report.   The World Bank explicitly notes that reforms implemented in early 2026, including the recently signed Executive Order to safeguard remittance of petroleum revenues, are already addressing concerns around deductions, and are expected to improve transparency while increasing revenues available to all tiers of government by about 0.4% of GDP annually.   Misinterpreting one aspect of the analysis without acknowledging the progressive reforms and measures already introduced to enhance distributable federation revenues gives a distorted picture. STRONGER MACROECONOMIC FUNDAMENTALS   The broader message of the World Bank report is positive and forward-looking:   Economic growth is becoming more broad-based across sectors. Inflation, while still elevated, is declining due to deliberate policy actions. Nigeria’s external position has strengthened significantly, with improved reserves and a current account surplus. Debt indicators have improved, including a decline in the debt-to-GDP ratio, the first in over a decade.   These developments reflect the outcomes of the current administration's ongoing macroeconomic policies and public financial management reforms. THE REAL MESSAGE OF THE REPORT   The World Bank does not conclude that Nigeria’s fiscal system is collapsing or that reforms have failed. Rather, it states that reforms are working, and they must be sustained and deepened to translate macroeconomic gains into inclusive growth.   CONCLUSION   The Federal Government remains committed to strengthening fiscal transparency, improving revenue mobilisation, ensuring efficient public spending, and deepening reforms to support inclusive economic growth.   An accurate understanding and responsible reporting of fiscal information are critical to maintaining confidence in Nigeria’s reform trajectory and economic outlook.   We urge stakeholders, media organisations, and the public to engage constructively with fiscal information and avoid twisted interpretations that may undermine reform efforts and fuel public discord.   Signed Taiwo Oyedele Honourable Minister of State for Finance, Federal Republic of Nigeria April 19, 2026
