@FaerunSiren @pitchblacksteed The first thing my brother greeted me with when I got my hair cut short - ‘BoB’
English

@pitchblacksteed When my husband takes ages to make a cuppa I’ll be like WHERE DID YOU GO FOR THAT TEA INDIA?!
I’ve got a cunning plan is just of course, standard
And who could forget…. BOB

To many of us, #Blackadder is part of every day parlance. Which phrases from the show do you use yourself and when you do you use them? Example: When someone offers me a cup of tea, I say: "Yes, immediately!" You get the idea. Will RT the best ones.

Nic specjalnego.

@autcareandshare Apologies - twitter not the medium for nuanced discussion but I’d like to understand more what is ‘can’t’ and ‘won’t’ in this sense so I can empathise better.

Good morning all, as a parent of a autistic child you very quickly learn the do nots, now all children are different so my do nots will likely be different to your do nots , do not buy any other brand apart from dairy lea lunchables, do not allow anyone in the house, doing so will upset his routine, do not allow food to touch, do not go shopping at busy times, do not walk past market stalls in France selling cheese otherwise he will think its a free sample and start eating the very large wedge as angry French store holder swears at you/us, i look back on all those things that happened, and I remember being terrified and scared, being a parent isnt easy, but its so much fun and I have so many happy memories to smile and laugh about, and much like the forms that you have to constantly fill in the fun the stress the worry the laughter, never stops. Have a good day everyone.
English

@autcareandshare This is an effort to understand not judge: all cases are different but how far can we expect an autistic person to adapt to the world and how far the world to adapt to the autistic person. If they ‘don’t want people in the house’ people don’t come in or they need to overcome?

@EmzieTrix Aw, yes, but I'd rather clean an entire baby than one little hoglet - getting food out from between spines takes a looooong time.😁

I'll never forget a lovely Polish Amazon delivery man saying, as he handed me supplies that had been sent from my wishlist, "More kindness for you."
And that's just what it is, when someone sends items or donates towards the cost of medicines - it's kindness in its purest form: an act of love that expects no reciprocation.❤️
Thank you so much, from the bottom of my heart, all those who help keep this little hospital running, and who hearten and energise me with their kind words of encouragement.
The supplies with notes are from Heather C, Mark, Amanda K, Victoria N, Rae D, Amanda M, cmb one, JoAnne, Mary M, Caroline H, Lorraine F, DT plc, Ray & Sue H, Amy C, Teia L, Kay W, Clive, Webbsixty6, Roberty B, Linda F, Christopher P, Laura C, Rebecca W, Jacqueline and in memory of her lovely dad Maurice Whitfield.
Here's a smile to start your weekend with:
A little family of orphaned babies being transitioned from formula and introduced to liquidised solid food.
Self anointing is something hedgehogs do when meeting a strange new smell they think is important and they want to remember.
They lick the new substance, create a saliva froth with it in their mouths, and then spread that all over their body.
And yes, it's fun watching and no, it's not fun cleaning them up afterwards.😁

@Jingerella66 @johnsowle There's is no funding for free delivery of prescriptions, the pharmacies that do it do it as a goodwill gestures and absorb the cost. Nhs doesn't pay towards it.
English

I think my 91 year old mother has just been conned out of £55 by Boots.
She went in to enquire about Boots Pharmacy dealing with her prescription straight from the doctor's surgery, as someone in Morrisons (who deal with her prescriptions since the drs changed pharmacy) told her Morrisons don't deliver. Apparently, Morrisons can deliver prescriptions for everyone at my mother's assisted living complex, but not her. There is something wrong here.
A member of Boot's staff told her they don't deliver NHS prescriptions for free, and made her pay £55 for an' annual pass'. This is nonsense. She's elderly and vulnerable. I will be on their tail tomorrow. A full refund had better be forthcoming pronto.

As you can see, darling Gabriel looks like a different hog now.
That frail little dying waif who arrived here just before Easter is gone, and cheeky happy Gabriel now weighs an amazing 1030g.
Now his chest is clear and his breathing is normal I have started giving him treatment baths for his ringworm.
His scabby nose, crusty ears and baldness in his coat of spines, around where it meets his fur skirt, will soon be a thing of the past, too.
Gabriel's history: x.com/HedgehogCabin/…

English

@HedgehogCabin @JocksLassie There were two together the other night so we know there are at least 2. No huffing or chuffing so maybe two siblings - last summer we had 4 who would all rock up up within minutes of each other.
English

@EmzieTrix @JocksLassie Two? That's good news. Our hedgehogs really need more people like you, providing and advocating for them.🥰❤️

"I don't know what made me look down and stop, I must have been guided by an angel," said dear Gabriel's finder.
He lay motionless in the middle of the main road through Windsor but was still breathing, so she scooped him up and rang a rescue (not me), who told her to bring him in.
Then, despite his ticks and fleas and terrible stench of infection, she held him close to her chest and gave him her body warmth for the 45 minute drive here.
That instinctive act of selfless love probably saved Gabriel's life.
I had no idea she was coming, as it wasn't me she had rung.
But somehow Google maps guided her here, which was so fortunate as I know the original destination rescue, and it's a bad one.
Poor Gabriel was very near death.
Although an adult male who should weigh over a kilo, he was just 550g.
Emaciated.
All head and a wasted little body.
Starving, full of internal and external parasites, and with a heavily infected wound causing him a lot of pain.
He was also covered with hundreds of fly eggs on the verge of hatching into maggots, which would then eat him alive.
After injecting him with warmed fluids and giving him a powerful analgesic and a fast acting antibiotic, I removed the fly eggs and left him to sleep on the warming pad.
This poor darling boy is stable for now, and if he makes it through tonight I'll be able to start his antiparasitic treatments over Easter.

English

@HedgehogCabin @JocksLassie That’s so concerning :( we know we have at least two visiting at the moment. I’m hoping for more 🤞🏻
English

@JocksLassie Yes last year was the quietest year I've ever known - even in my own garden.
This year is quieter still.
The lack of phone calls is very ominous.
English

@EmzieTrix You really are making a huge difference Emma. Thank you 🙏
English

@pricklelodge They give me a great deal of joy. I’ve never had any pets but putting out some food and water for these little ones makes me feel like I’m making a small difference.
English

@EmzieTrix Oh that’s great news Emma. Your precious garden visitors are so lucky to have you 🦔❤️🦔
English

Just a quick update on poor Gabriel.
This dear little boy made it through the night and got up to eat, and has been eating small and often all through the night and day, which is great.
He gained an amazing 131g.
He's still seriously ill, and needs round the clock potent pain relief, but is now stable enough to start the first of his antiparasite drugs today.
English

@HedgehogCabin Maybe I can buy them a set of Walkie talkies 😁. Honestly it sounded like someone being murdered.
English

Hehehe! Yes, for such a small body they can produce an incredible volume.😁
But they need to.
Each extended family group has a fairly large territory, so to communicate with another unrelated group far away (mainly for mating purposes - it's important they don't mate with their relatives) they need to be able to shout loudly, as they don't have phones.😄

Foxes may be seen more frequently in our gardens now as mum fox, who has been confined to her den feeding her cubs round the clock for weeks, and relying on dad and other family members to bring her food, is finally free to go out and forage herself.
Foxes are true omnivores, so as well as small rodents and insects, their diverse diet includes fruits and berries.
So mum fox will eat varied foods, as well as taking some home to her babies in the den, so they experience a wide choice of nutrients and tastes.
Just as we wean our babies by putting the food we eat in a food processor, to break it down and liquify it, so she will chew up and swallow the food she collects for them.
When mum arrives home the excited cubs will lick at her lips, encouraging her to regurgitate her liquified meal for them.
Here you can see these mums are enjoying some halved apples I put out for them (yes, you know those ones we all have in the fridge, bought in a spurt of 'healthy eating' shopping and have sat there ever since).
One mum even prefers the apples to the Bonio biscuit!
Apples and pears are good occasionally, but dry cat or dog food is a great staple food to leave out as it's a safe balanced meal for every garden visitor, and will help stop hungry mums raiding the hedgehog feeders.🥰
