MPs have BACKED @sarahjolney1's Lib Dem bill on electoral reform. This is a historic day for fair votes. Today, as we have done for a century, Liberal Democrats are leading the fight for fair votes and making sure that no one can be ignored in our democracy. Fixing our broken electoral system, introducing fair votes, and making sure everyone's voice matters is the best way to rebuild trust in our politics. We are grateful to all MPs who have backed our call. The government must now listen to the will of the House, make time for the legislation and make fairer a votes a reality and we will be holding their feet to the fire to make this happen.

MPs will today vote on @sarahjolney1's bill, which would introduce electoral reform and proportional representation to elections in England. Following years of the Conservatives’ denigrating standards in public life, we urgently need to restore the public’s trust in politics. Fixing our voting system is a perfect start. First Past the Post is not fit for purpose. We believe every vote should count equally. We are calling for Labour MPs to vote with their own members and back this Bill.

Deeply disappointing our motion for WFP pause & rethink was rejected by @exeterlabour en-bloc last night. They will let pensioners go cold this Winter. Challenging for pensioners to claim & leaves many on wrong side of the line for vital support. More: exeterlibdems.org.uk/news/article/e…

@DevonCC is consulting on improvements to four bus corridor areas in the city: devon.gov.uk/roads-and-tran… Better bus infrastructure not only improves the reliability of buses, it also improves blue light response times, taxi costs, and cycling safety.

@MichaelCla62251 Agreed, @ExeterCAB provide vital frontline services & we're strongly opposed to their support having to be cut. We put pressure on Labour to reverse the cuts (which have also lacked proper consultation) in the council chamber, on leaflets & in our city council manifesto.

@ExeterLibDems One way of protecting pensioners would be to challenge the end of financial support by Exeter Council for Citizens Advice. I'm puzzled by you not challenging the end of their grant funding. Citizens Advice exists in part to help pensioners claim Pension Credit and other help.

The news comes as @ExeterCouncil sets plans to hike already high parking charges across #Exeter. Car parks are one of ECC's few revenue raising powers. Make no mistake, this is a cash grab by Labour following their wasted millions & new govt's refusal to fix council funding. 2/3
