In Ungheria perde il destra-centro europeo meno critico nei confronti della Russia ( ricordo che Fidesz, il partito di Orban, é stato nel PPE fino al 2021) e vince il centro-destra vicino al PPE (Péter Magyar, leader del partito Tisza, é stato in Fidesz dal 2002 al 2024 e la sua ex moglie, Judit Varga, è stata ministro della giustizia nel quarto e quinto governo Orbán). Le differenze politiche tra i due sono molto meno forti di quanto si possa capire dai commenti italiani (abituati a parlare da tifosi e non ad approfondire) ma lo scontro è stato sul modo con cui Orban ha governato, sulle garanzie democratiche e sulla corruzione.
