@CptHastings1916 The NUM was even against the mining because the Fitzwilliam family were seen as better employers than the state and threatened to go on strike over damage to the house.

@JesuitArchives That's very sad about the school, but excellent news that the records are safe.

Another archive collection on its way to the Jesuit Archive.
Former #JesuitSchool, Barlborough Hall closed last summer, and its #Jesuit records will now be preserved for the future.

@roryisconfused We need to bring back poetry. Where are the men who quote John Keats?

@CptHastings1916 I'm reminded that the atmospheric epilogue of this symphony was one of Archbishop Bernard Longley's choices on Private Passions some years ago — so it comes with archi-episcopal approval!

I'm so pleased to have translated the Anglo-Saxon poem 'The Panther' for this wonderful new setting by Nico Muhly - premiered today in Exeter itself, home of the Exeter Book!

Today's Choral Evensong service will be broadcast live at 3pm on @BBCRadio3. During the service, Exeter Cathedral Choir will be performing the premiere of an anthem specially commissioned for the conference from composer Nico Muhly. It is a setting of a poem “The Panther” from the Exeter Book, translated by Dr Parker specifically for this composition. @RailwayHeritage @SettleCarlisle I do love those two benches on opposite platforms, 'Settle Down' and 'Settle Up'!
English

Thanks to @SettleCarlisle for inviting @RailwayHeritage to join them at the launch of their 150th anniversary celebrations in Settle. We’ve supported them with many grants and have just approved a new grant to assist their planned work at Ribblehead Station.
