In PR, everything comes down to anticipation and preparation. This entire Azzi story could’ve been avoided with a few simple steps:
If they’re NOT together and don’t want to confirm it:
-Have PR clearly state BEFORE the press conference — no personal questions. ✅
If they ARE together:
-Accept that questions are coming (you’ve already been somewhat public).
Prepare answers. Jump on the *softballs*
(“Did you talk to the vets about their experience…?”) and give a clean, easy response. It keeps things smooth and sets up stronger boundaries later.
Answer the easy ones first, and shutting down the hardballs becomes much simpler: “I’ve already addressed that.”
Preparation beats deflection every time.
