Thank you @RealMattLucas for having a proper paddy about the lack of support for the vital #earlyyears sector! Take a look at @dingley as we call for better support for children with #SEND in the early years - here's to the best start for every child! youtu.be/0dPGWzV9WgI

I wish you all a joyful restful break. As usual, through the holidays my posts will be a bit more ad-hoc, as I go and get some rest, and cook up plans for next school year. 1/2

Don’t forget to stop and celebrate the steps you are taking in your own skills and knowledge with more complex learners, as well as the steps they are making. There is no step to small to reflect on and celebrate! 2/3

Education is an environment that does a lot of measuring – of staff, of students. Always a new target or improvement to work on next. 1/3

We often do not know how fast children will move on in their learning, but we can be as consistent in providing great environments, interactions and activities as possible. Us adults can lose confidence when we repeat things and don’t see what feels like progress. 1/2

Graduation day! 👩‍🎓🎉 So happy to graduate for my Masters in Clinical Research @OfficialUoM and even better to be in the same ceremony as the future #SLTs by sheer fluke. Gave Holly an extra loud clap @seoliphant 👏

When children with complex presentations of need are in mainstream environments, it can be too easy to drift from the kind of relationship-building that is definitely important, into ‘let’s do what keeps the child busy and contented’, at the cost of them learning skills they 1/3

@NickGibbUK I'm not disagreeing with what you are saying here, but you must understand that this is not what is happening in reality.

@NickGibbUK And do your Ofsted inspectors understand? Because I've read too many accounts of Early Years staff criticised for prioritising children's interests, the core of early language development. Because inspectors want to see books.
