@TazandGiosmom @InvictusDr It was a whirlwind of a day. I've been following this team for over 20 years and whilst I still don't agree with Edwards business ops getting in the way of hockey ops, I'll admit I was surprised to see not just the deal, but the fact we ended up retaining salary on Kadri.

The only positive of today is more people realizing that Murray Edwards is a terrible, cheap owner. He's always been. We could've been rebuilding years ago but he definitely forced BT to sign Huberdeau, Weegar and aquire Kadri to remain competitive. God I hate him.

@Alanwadecalgary This is a more eloquent way to put it and I do agree. If I could replace the word cheap, I'd choose shrewd. Edwards is a shrewd businessman, and sometimes that mindset gets in the way of hockey operations.

@FlamesTalk I don’t think he’s cheap… the problem is he shouldn’t be involved in the day to day business of building a team…. They have a financia budget and plan let them stick to it… get involved if they aren’t …

Details on the conditional picks in the Kadri trade, per GM Craig Conroy: 2028 first-round is tied to the Toronto pick from the Roy trade. Could be 2028 top ten protected first or a 2029 unprotected first. 2027 second-round is best of Colorado or Minnesota's pick. #Flames

@McMav My recollection of it was we traded the face of our franchise for an unknown 11 overall pick who hadn't even played a game in the NHL. Hence the "Jarome who" The play on Nieuwendyk makes sense too. That'd be a TIL for me.

@FlamesTalk That was a clever headline based off of Nieuwendyk’s nickname, Joe Who. He was the guy they traded to get Iginla.

When we acquired Iginla in 1996, the article headline was "Jarome Who?", followed by a pronunciation guide of "Iginla". He was an 11th pick. Idk who this kid is either and I'm not saying he's the next Iginla, but let's see how his career pans out before declaring a trade winner.

The amount of Mammoth fans that learned who Jonathan Castagna is for the first time yesterday tells you everything you need to know about who won the trade #TusksUp

Team Canada needed these Olympics to be hosted in Calgary. We need that magic of 2010 back (and upgraded facilities to help future athletes) Can't believe Calgary fumbled that so terribly.

In 2002 Jarome Iginla met fans at a restaurant near Salt Lake City who were visiting from Calgary. The 4 young men were staying in their Ford Taurus in the parking lot of Comfort Inn. Jarome booked them in at the Marriot Courtyard, where his family was staying. Iginla is the GOAT

In 2002 Jarome Iginla became the first Black male athlete to win gold at the Winter Olympics when Canada defeated Team USA. Iginla finished the season with 52 goals and 96 points, winning the Rocket, the Art Ross, and the Lester B. Pearson #Hockey365 #BlackHistoryMonth
