What’s a manga you “know" is a good read but haven’t had the opportunity to do so?
I’ll go first:
The Drops of God by Tadashi Agi & Shu Okimoto
Synopsis: Yutaka Kanzaki, a wine critic whose reviews have enough clout to move the industry worldwide, has died—leaving behind a wine collection worth over two billion yen. Only the one who can name his favorite bottles, plus vintages, will inherit this dream of a cellar. It's a battle between Yutaka's biological son Shizuku and adopted child Issei to identify these "Twelve Apostles"—along with the very best wine in his collection, the so-called "Drops of God."

@MesugakiArchive This anime is so overhated. Every episode was interesting and ended with a beautiful monologue.

@lukecagg @esho815 @AniNewsAndFacts You must be misunderstanding me because I am arguing in favor of the past aggressive cancelling. The mercy that Jump shows new low quality manga shows that they're desperate to fill the hole the big 3 have left.
English

@Fnvuucs @esho815 @AniNewsAndFacts Are you dumb? I'm saying that decades ago they cancelled series with much less chapters. Jump is much more lenient now with most cancelled series having at least 3 volumes
English

@lukecagg @esho815 @AniNewsAndFacts Yes and that shows that Jump just takes anything at this point and is seemingly content with low quality manga to sully their magazine
English

@Fnvuucs @esho815 @AniNewsAndFacts The cancelled manga now is much more lenient than decades ago where the normal was to cancel unpopular series by 11 chapters.
English

@lukecagg @esho815 @AniNewsAndFacts Look at cancelled manga now your eyes are closed if you think jump is in a good place
English

@Fnvuucs @esho815 @AniNewsAndFacts You know nothing about jump history. Go look to cancelled manga from decades ago
English

@lukecagg @esho815 @AniNewsAndFacts The big 3 are no more and they keep pumping out new shitty manga that would have never had a chance in prime jump

As mentioned above, the author of the wildly popular martial arts series, Keisuke Itagaki, is the loving father of Paru Itagaki.
I couldn't find much information on Keisuke, but I can definitely see how his interests align with martial arts and manga. During his service, he practiced amateur boxing and competed in the National Sports Festival. He also holds a degree in Shorinji Kempo, which he has practiced since he was a teenager.
Paru started drawing manga in the second grade, and as a teenager, she developed the character Legoshi, an anthropomorphic wolf who would later appear in her manga series Beastars. She cites Disney movies as an inspiration.

Nothing much needs to be said about Akira Toriyama that you don't already know. If you take anything away from reading this, it’s not to give up.
Wonder Island, Toriyama's first published work, debuted in Weekly Shōnen Jump in 1978. It finished in last place in the readers' survey. Toriyama later mentioned that he had planned to quit manga after getting paid, but his stubbornness kept him going despite the flop of Wonder Island 2.
He continued to create unsuccessful stories for a year, producing around 500 pages' worth, including the published Today's Highlight Island. During this time, he learned a lot and even had some fun.
When his editor, Torishima, suggested he draw a female lead character, Toriyama hesitantly created Tomato the Cutesy Gumshoe in 1979. It achieved some success and gave him a boost of encouragement.
Not much is known about his wife in the West, and I couldn't find much information about her.
She is a former manga artist and writer, having worked on several books throughout her career. She used multiple aliases in her creative work, including "Yoshihime" and "Mikami Nachi."
Some of her notable titles include The Top and Bottom of Rock and Roll, The Confusing Legend of St. Mephisto, and Rock and Rollers' Story: The Queen Story.
Kato also collaborated with Akira Toriyama on his iconic Dragon Ball project, influencing both the storytelling and character designs.
One of her most notable contributions was designing the distinct appearance of the character Android 18.

✏️ Famous Related Mangaka Thread ✏️
The other day, I was looking for a new manga to read. While searching for the next story to fill my Sundays, I discovered that the author of the Baki series is the father of the wildly popular Beastars manga creator. This got me thinking:
Are there other famous mangaka who are related to each other?
I did some research, which mostly involved Googling. After some searching, I couldn't find many instances. I wasn't sure if this was due to a lack of information coming from Japan, or if the manga industry is more about talent rather than nepotism.
However, I did find some cool connections and decided to share the most interesting ones.
Masashi Kishimoto, the author of Naruto, is an identical twin to his brother Seishi Kishimoto, famous for the manga 666 Satan, Blaze Drive, Sukedachi 09, and Mad Chimera World.
Both were born in Okayama Prefecture, Japan, on November 8, 1974. Masashi, the older identical twin, and Seishi started watching the anime adaptation of Kinnikuman together and began designing their own superheroes.
--
While not related by blood, the author of Hunter x Hunter, Yoshihiro Togashi, who suffers from severe lower back problems that prevented him from sitting for two years and forced him to draw lying down, is married to one of the greatest manga artists of all time, Naoko Takeuchi, creator of Sailor Moon.
The two were introduced at a party hosted by Kazushi Hagiwara. The following year, Takeuchi assisted Togashi for a short time by adding screen tones to his manga.
Togashi and Takeuchi were married on January 6, 1999. In attendance at the ceremony were several fellow manga artists and voice actors from both the Sailor Moon and Yu Yu Hakusho anime series.
