We used the SelkoDialog AI agent to interview churned users of our Props app Here's what we learned: – Most didn't mean to churn, they just got distracted or fell out of habit – Push notifications were often turned off – Small life disruptions led to long-term disengagement These insights reshaped our roadmap 💪. SelkoDialog was a quick and easy way to uncover what the data alone couldn't. 📖 Full case study in the comments 👇

@yashhq_22 For some people whose audience is here. But I think there are many other routes to success.

@fabiofranchino Nobody should give ut. It does get harder and certain type of developers are at higher risk.

@Frans81 Every average tech person can become capable by continuing to study. There'll be a huge demand for such. Giving up because apparently AI is replacing tech ppl is a big mistake.

@paulg What is your opinion on buying the initial critical mass? This strategy is often mentioned in platform strategy books but I have not heard of any real success stories yet.

A startup idea that only works if there are already a significant number of people using it is not a valid startup idea. There has to be some subset of users who need what you're making so desperately that they'll use it even if no one else is.

@Frans81 AI is going to generate a lot of work for technical people, by tech I mean very capable

@forgebitz It's obvious but hard to follow. Same as "grow your revenue and keep costs low".

"make something people want" sounds like the most obvious startup advice, but most people will spend years building something nobody wants

Every time there's a task I still have to do manually, I ask myself: "What would it take for AI to do this for me instead?" Usually the answer isn't better AI. It's things like: - creating proper documentation - structuring the data - standardizing workflows - making information accessible to machines Most of the time, this takes longer than just doing the task manually. But I'm starting to see these investments compound. Once the groundwork exists, more and more work becomes automatable.

@paulg I have felt this way every time and I have been wrong every time. But this time (with AI) it will be different, right?

Another related fallacy is to think that you have to start a startup now because there's a boom happening now, and if you wait too long all the good ideas will have been done. I've been hearing this line for 20 years and it has never been true.

It's a fallacy to think you should drop out of college because you have an idea that has to be implemented right now, or it will be too late. If you stay in school you'll have other and better ideas.

@thenowhereway This used to be the only right way. But nowadays with AI it can sometimes to be ok to vibe code a quick MVP in a weekend. Depends on the product.

Stop spending 6 months polishing your SaaS. You should know if people want it in 6 days. Post the idea. DM users. Get feedback. Pre-sell. Validate demand. Most founders avoid marketing because it exposes reality fast. That’s exactly why you should do it earlier.

@garrytan Maybe tomorrow the orchestration module automatically orders the LLM to build the necessary skills and hardens and develops itself that way?

Realization: in the past, we wrote code to call LLMs Today, we write prompts and skill files for LLMs to execute code. Tomorrow? Yet unwritten. We will find out soon.

@dvassallo Time is money. Although I can imagine kids and some students feel their time is free and now it is harder for them to compete with people who have tokens.

first time traveling alone for more than a day without my son (11months old now) and man it feels weird af it feels like a part of life is just missing it doesn’t feel liberating or freeing I already miss him and his funny little noises 🥲 there’s always this narrative around how great it is to not have the responsibility with kids and do what you want but once you felt how fulfilling it is with them these experiences of “freedom” seem to insignificant in comparison

@nikitabier There are also a lot of people who post genuine content and get less reach than ever. Why? Because the algorithm is leaning too much towards interest graph vs following graph.

I posted 10 AI videos yesterday, reposted someone else’s TikTok, and schedule-posted 4 jokes that went viral in 2016. Why am I not famous yet? App is broken.

There is an awful lot of referrer spam these days. Bots coming to my website from various websites, where there are no links to my site. These websites sell their own marketing services of course. These bots scroll a bit and click a few things, so they look legit. Anyone else experiencing this?

Depends what you validate. You don't need build almost anything to validate that there is interest in the problem. Often you can also validate that there are going to be buyers. Ultimately, you are going to need an MVP to validate that the solution actually solved the problem for the customer well enough so that they are willing to continue paying.
