Le Samouraï meets Bullitt in Walter Hill’s The Driver (1978) - a roaring slice of urban existentialism where the nameless characters take on an almost mythical quality worthy of a classic Western. Cynical and fatalistic, it’s one of the best of 1978 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️½

@RealJamesWoods I love him in most of his roles. However, in later films he was phoning it in. In those roles he was Al Pacino playing... Al Pacino. No variation.

Every one. Al Pacino is a genius of the craft, and a terrific guy. I met Al when I was 20, doing summer stock at the legendary Provincetown Playhouse-on-the-Wharf. I saw him off-Broadway in The Indian Wants the Bronx with John Cazale. Every young New York actor who saw that performance knew this was the guy to watch. Not only did we emulate him, we all benefited from his advice and support. He was famous for recommending and recognizing struggling actors. Just a true star in every way. Happy Birthday, sir.

@GiancarloSopo This would be my answer (not in same order). Tho you were wrong about not including Coolidge in your top 3 Republican presidents

Who were the three best Democratic presidents of the 20th century? 1) Truman: Architect of the American century. NATO, the Marshall Plan, containment. Integrated the armed forces, declined to run in 1952 when he legally could have. Civilizational achievement combined with constitutional modesty. 2) FDR: Defeated two civilizational threats: the Depression and fascism. Whatever misgivings conservatives have with the New Deal, it likely prevented a revolution at home. The institutional costs were real—court-packing, third and fourth terms, internment—but the magnitude of what he achieved is impossible to overlook. 3) Clinton: Six years of restrained governance. Gradualist, not a revolutionary. Welfare reform that helped lift millions out of poverty, balanced budgets, fiscal restraint, the best economy of my lifetime. Brokered the Good Friday Agreement in Northern Ireland and acted late, but ultimately effectively, in the Balkans. His personal failures are real, but the 90s were generally a good decade. Note: The third spot was close between Clinton and JFK. It's tough to beat Kennedy on style, and he's probably the finest orator we've ever heard in the Oval Office. But the Bay of Pigs was a serious failure, the Diem coup he authorized destabilized South Vietnam in ways that made the later catastrophe more likely, his early caution on civil rights tolerated ongoing constitutional defiance in the South, and his finest hour—the missile crisis—was arguably cleaning up a confrontation his own weakness at Vienna had invited Khrushchev to test. Still, the achievements are real and stirring: a strong economy, the commitment to land on the moon, the Peace Corps, and the June 1963 civil rights speech and bill that finally put the presidency on the right side of the constitutional question. Inspiring a nation is no small thing. The case for him is genuine, but a thousand days is a thin governing record.

Honest question for my Republican followers: Who was the best Democratic president of the 20th century and why? Not limited to these, no wrong answers.

See, I keep getting these absolute slop, low-IQ rage-bait accounts in my timeline. This imbecile blocked me for responding with like ten great post 84 Pacino performances that refute his retarded point

@HairMetalGuru @Rock101KLOL @warrantrocks I often put this on playlists when I have folks over and it always goes down well. Within 30 seconds they will ask which band this is, and when I tell them there’s usually an initial recoiling reaction, but by the midway point they are bobbing their head. Long live Jani Lane

@jacobus_sa @bowtiedbrazil I meant allies in the formal sense, not public opinion. I remember talking to a high level American diplomat in the early 2000s posted to Brazil who described the relationship thus: “we are friendly but not friends”

“our closest natural ally in the region, and a partner we cannot afford to push away” Lmao. Bro I can accept the performative Brazil dick sucking for your biz reasons but this is just embarrassing at this point
Drew Crawford@drewcrawford_

Brazil is on the State Department’s immigrant visa pause list this week. Brazil is also the largest country in the Western Hemisphere outside the United States, our closest natural ally in the region, and a partner we cannot afford to push away. We need to build bridges with Brazil, not walls.

@NatesHiddenGems This is my preferred sequence. I think that start-stop guitar intro to Guns makes for a perfect album opener. Power is a good song but that mid tempo riff works better for me as the second or third track.

AC/DC Album Ranking from Worst to Best #8: Flick Of The Switch (1983) This album SMOKES and some of you are just haters!😂 Seriously though, I do consider THIS to be the bands most underrated album! This album barely gets talked about because a lot of people think this is when the band fell off after failing to recapture what they had with Back In Black (and they aren’t wrong). But to my ears, this is the band going back to their roots for the first time with Brian Johnson! Let me put it this way: this album is the CLOSEST the band ever sounded to the original Bon Scott era with Johnson. After the two albums that came before it had more bombastic, pristine sounding production. The band went back to a most stripped back sound that to me, gave the band their GRIT back! This also sounds like a band that doesn’t GIVE A FUCK about trying to write hits. Rather they just wrote KICK ASS Rock and Roll! I LOVE the opening track ‘Rising Power’! It’s actually a pretty heavy riff for this band! Real Heavy Metal feel to it! ‘This House Is On Fire’ is a REALLY fun song that I love singing along to!😂 The title track absolutely FUCKIN RIPS! Love it! Then ‘Nervous Shakedown’ MIGHT be on of the heaviest songs they’ve EVER WROTE! Such a head banger! I really enjoy ‘Landslide’…even though that main riff is a COMPLETE ripoff of Ted Nugent’s ‘Motor City Madhouse’. Don’t believe me…look it up😂 ‘Guns For Hire’ is a great song too and my FAVORITE track of the album is ‘Bedlam In Belgium’! THAT song is in my top ten AC/DC songs of all time! Overall, this truly is a fantastic under the radar album! A…hidden gem…if you will😂 You may not find any of these songs on a ‘Greatest Hits’, but it’s an album that deserves WAY MORE attention in this bands catalog than it does. MAKE IT HAPPEN!😂🤘🏻

@NatesHiddenGems My 5th favorite. I don’t call it their most underrated only because a lot of fans recognize it as top tier. I like every song and think Guns and the title song are absolute classics. My only issue is sequencing. I only listen to this in my own order, which starts with Guns

@GAltringham Shut the fuck up - Nolan literally had to get rid of that lady and 'ruin' his series of movies because he needed charisma to match Bale's - wow, you are so dumb if you actually think this.
