Why use MH-6’s that needed to be brought in by C-130’s instead of MH-60’s That could have refueled mid flight? - MH-6 for special operations-style SAR in urban, confined, or high-threat environments where speed, surprise, and access trump capacity (e.g., hostage rescue follow-ons, rooftop extractions, or narrow mountain sites). - MH-60 for most standard or large-scale SAR, especially over longer distances, in open terrain, maritime settings, or when multiple casualties/medical support are involved. It is generally the more capable "workhorse" for dedicated SAR due to its hoist, range, and payload.
