@BarryOnHere This post make me think about how Russell might be the best leader. He managed to be maniacally obsess with winning like a MJ and Kobe but with better understanding of working with teammates even from the beginning. But in terms of face of the league I think Magic is the best.

Michael Jordan brainwashed generations of NBA fans into thinking you can only win if you're a ballhog who belittles and dehumanizes your teammates. Life was better in 1990 when MJ had 0 rings and Magic-Bird were held up as the standard for winning because they played team ball. If they came along after MJ, they'd get called pussies with no killer instinct.

@BarryOnHere I agree with the idea of it but I think it's more a Kobe thing. A lot of MJ issues with his teammates were behind close doors. Whereas Kobe more fully embrace being in conflict with his teammates and being a dick publicly. Even giving it a name with Mamba mentality.

@BarryOnHere I agree with the annoyance. I disagree with the reasons. The reason why I dont like when people talk about it like a real rivalry is because KD was there. And that's just too much superstar help to be a real 1 v 1 rivalry.

I get irrationally angry whenever LeBron & Steph play each other and it gets talked about like a Magic-Bird or Peyton-Brady dynamic. Those individual rivalries work b/c the players are more or less EQUAL caliber ALL-TIME. Steph has never been close to LeBron's level all-time. LeBron's rivals were always TEAMS, like the Spurs, Celtics, Warriors. Never one PLAYER. LeBron is Coke, Steph is RC Cola. LeBron is Michael Jordan, Steph is Clyde Drexler. There are levels.

@yungcoloradokid I mean standing do matter. It's just sometimes exceptions happen. Same way you're not winning MVP playing under 60 games but it happened once. It doesnt mean games played doesnt matter it just mean sometimes crazy things happen.

When Westbrook won MVP OKC was in 6th place. Standings obviously do not matter. Jokic is the TRUE MVP.

@HPbasketball One last explanation I can think is that you need them to see them be unstoppable in the post season. Seeing them go 7 twice including the finals doesnt give that feeling of overwhelming no matter how good they objectively are.

I'm really interested by the idea that the Thunder are, objectively, an All-Time team. Wins. Point Differential. Defense. Defense with Offensive Capability. Led by MVP. Depth. Coaching. Culture. Execution. But they do not feel like the all-time great teams *to me* and I do not know why. (Thunder fans, I get they fell like that to you and that people SHOULD view them that way. Read the first part again.) If you're not a Thunder fan, does OKC feel like an all-time great team on par with Warriors 2016, 2017, or say, Heat 2012 (who were objectively much worse than OKC), OKC 2014, 01 Lakers, etc? If not, why not?

@HPbasketball Possible explanation: It harder to see defense as an all time great rather than offense. Most people thinking of an all time great team goes to how overwhelming the offense was or having 2 offensive superstars even if the defense was also great.

@HPbasketball One possible explanation is that their style of defense is very upsetting to many so it's hard to acknowledge to give them full credit for dominance. Kind of like Bron going to Miami and being rooted against in 2011.

@EmmanuelAcho I'm not opposed to the idea JJ could lose the locker room. I strongly disagree about Luka injury being related to his ego. Luka being out there is normal. He is at 25 minutes played and we are in the 3rd quarter.

JJ Redick is often saying what his players are doing wrong, and rarely ever taking accountability for his own mismanagement of the roster. Maybe if JJ would’ve showed some humility or leadership while down by 30 at halftime to the Thunder last week, Reaves and Luka would still be healthy today. Redick is often more bully than coach. He routinely calls out his lesser back up/role players, but doesn’t keep the same energy for his leaders. The roster will rebel before it wins.
BrickCenter@BrickCenter_

JJ Redick CALLED OUT the entire roster 😭 On Rui: “He wasn’t doing his job so I took him out.” On Vando: “It was a confluence of things he did wrong.” On Ayton: “He can’t catch the ball.”

@FTFonFS1 @getnickwright He is playing 1 more game. There's no doubt to me. And this is exactly why the rule was made. Make stars play more. My disagreement with the rule is that I dont think stars playing 2-3 more games is worth 3 All-Nba slot (Luka, Ant, Cade).

.@getnickwright says this is the biggest story of the NBA's 65-game rule 👀 “Did Wemby go back in this game to make sure it counted for eligibility?…Now, we’re in a very awkward spot for the San Antonio Spurs franchise and for Wemby… It is a very unique situation.”

@UnderdogNBA The tanking is decided by how many teams are in the lottery the more you expand the more team you give incentive to lose.

Shams: NBA Board of Governors will meet on May 28 to vote on anti-tanking draft lottery reform. Option 1 has gained the most momentum: - 18 teams in lottery: Bottom 10 that miss Play-In and 8 that qualify - Bottom 10 teams each have 8% chance of moving up in lottery - Other 8 teams split 20% odds of moving up - All 18 spots drawn as part of lottery

I think people are so numb to Jokic putting up these stats to fully realize that leading the league in assists and rebounds is insane and there's all of the 80 years of NBA History to back that up. Social media is full of cynical bastards so I guess I shouldn't be surprised
NBA Courtside@NBA__Courtside

Paul Pierce says you’ll have a better chance of scoring 100 points in a game than having a guy lead the league in assists and rebounds: “We’re never going to see a season like this again from no one else ever in the history of the game.” (Via @NFGShow)

@cooly_bobby @MarzTalksSports I dont know about that. He was always winning running away but I think he needed the record to be unanimous. And that came down to the wire.

@MarzTalksSports I think people struggle with the difference of " I can make the argument that other guy was playing great" and "That guy had the best season". Kinda like everyone wants to make argument about Wemby or Jokic but when you have to vote you pick Shai at #1.
