Defamation requires way too much burden of proof, way too much work. Usually would not see someone take a case like that on contingency. No need to be an idiot about it.

The article you linked is only about Governor Pritzker reviving a proposal in Feb 2026 to reach 100% funding by 2048. It’s not law, not enacted, and Illinois has a long track record of making these big promises then failing to follow through. Even the article admits the state pensions are still only 47.8% funded with $143.5 billion unfunded (FY2025). When you include Chicago + all 677 local plans, the total unfunded liability is over $218 billion, still the worst in the nation. Vague 22-year timelines and press releases don’t fix decades of mismanagement or Chicago’s insolvent police/fire funds. The Detroit parallel stands until real structural reform actually happens.
