@nandimedics @BenAllenGP @DrGoblin3 Yes all in Lothian do and I think most use them. Easily found on intranet. Staff check frequently - emails scanned to be come part of the pt record and workflowed to most appropriate person to action ( which might not be a GP)

@BenAllenGP @GShelagh @DrGoblin3 I believe ALL GP practices have a gp.gxxxxx email address which is their practice G code. Whether they have the staff to monitor it is a other matter....

How should Secondary Care colleagues get hold of a GP if they need to discuss our patients on the day? Calling the surgery is not a solution, with lines often jammed. To respect their time, and enable better communication channels, we need some better solutions. Thoughts?

@BenAllenGP @DrGoblin3 Our practice has a generic “clinical inbox” consultants frequently use it. They can say FAO a particular Dr if they want to. If urgent it goes on the duty dr list to call them back.

@DrGoblin3 But how would a hospital Dr know you are the person to contact for their patients, what your email is and if you were at work? Wouldn't they need a generic email for the practice, which could be passed on in a suitable way within your practice?

@DrSimonHodes @TheBMA @TheBDA I phone their dentist or emergency dental cover and explain their patient needs to be seen as an emergency with their dental problem and that I, as a GP am not very good at teeth. They are usually offered an appointment.

5 exam attempts over the last 18 months. Training extended by a year. Nearly got kicked out training in December. 2 years of counselling and it’s looking like I’ll be CCT’ing next month. Disbelief.

@GodlessLiz No it doesn’t. Doesn’t come across as aimed at tourists and random stuff could happen to anyone anywhere. Wish I could convey to citizens in USA they would be totally fine without any guns though. We don’t have them and we don’t miss not having them (uk)

@lorraine_hickey I referred an unwell pt with RIF pain. said in referral “looks like appendicitis but they have had appendix out” diagnosis was “stump appendicitis”.
