Screw it, here is my mid-term top-32.
Safe to say this is a defence heavy draft, and my list really showcases this. 14/32 players are blueliners!
Shuravin and Vanacker need more attention as a whole. These two are PLAYERS!

@GeneralsUpdates You don’t get a cent of an ELC until you actually play though. An argument could be made that the signing bonus IS a player getting paid for their NIL.
I think we’re on the same page though, agree it was likely a cop out by DeGray… but I’m sure it will happen eventually.

@German_Spitfire Right now players can be paid for their NIL (name/image/likeness) but can’t be paid to play the sport. An ELC is being paid to play the sport. Those rules. Will that change? Definitely. Did DeGray use it as a cop out so he could save face to his fans? Also definitely

@GeneralsUpdates What NCAA rules? Those were thrown out of the window with the NCAA/CHL merger. ECHL players making 50k a year in a professional league are playing in the NCAA this year.
Realistically, what’s the difference between that and a 80k signing bonus on an ELC?

Something I don’t see nearly enough people talking about is that I don’t think NCAA eligibility is voided by an ELC anymore.
It’s not a matter of if, but when the first NHL prospect with an ELC plays in the NCAA.

This trade is “bonkers” because of the Adam Valentini rights included. There were picks being held up until 2027 from the original Valentini to Kitchener trade.
With this move, those picks being held up are officially sent to Brampton and Kitchener cuts their losses.

It’s plays like this, that convince me Shilov is a top-10 player from this draft class. If not higher.
He has high end upside, a great foundation of skill to build off of and plays a position that in this draft class in particular, comes at a premium.

Look at this pass by 2026 NHL draft prospect Yegor Shilov.
Head fakes the pass to the point, convincing the entire D it’s going there, and lays a bullet on the tee for Bourque to drill home.
Few players in the 2026 draft can make plays like this. None of them, are center’s.
