Gowkthrapple is a small neighbourhood of Wishaw, Scotland, situated around 3⁄4 miles from the town centre. The name "Gowkthrapple" is a Scots compound word made up of "gowk", meaning "idiot" or "cuckoo" and "thrapple", meaning "throat" or "strangle

Looking for something else I stumbled across the CDs that have survived declutters over the years. Something to be said about a CD booklet, maybe worth keeping more than the scratched discs

@coffeebucks The childminder would guilt-trip me to get me to pick up early, and only realised how much that was messing with my mind after we switched to nursery. No guilt at all now!

A good read (I have never felt remotely guilty about putting mine in childcare - they do painting, playing in mud, & have a mixed platter of fresh tropical fruits available at snack time)

@rhiannonlucyc This was my experience, only thing that helped (a bit) was accepting my situation. Then everything changed almost overnight when she moved to a single bed at about 20 months

@aidanskinner Fun fact: since childhood Adam has been mentally unable to eat anything that’s in the shape of something else. So advent calendar chocolate is out!

It’s 7 December and I’ve just had to hide the advent calendar in the same place we store dangerous medicines that shouldn’t be within reach of small children

@coffeebucks I feel similarly about the fancy food they offer at lunchtime. “I’m afraid she only ate half her lamb and chickpea ragu…” Great!

Nursery have sent a photo of my child messing around with glue & glitter; despite the dialogue about affordable childcare, that place is worth every last penny so I don’t have to have glitter in my house

@rhiannonlucyc I also avoid all parenting books and sites yet somehow still felt incredibly guilty every time I used the baby swing for a 10 min break. Now it’s up the loft I regret not using it more!
