@PeytonWashingt4 Such an interesting find! Never would I have imagined within the past year, especially during the chaos of a pandemic our country would have 90 anti-protest bills being introduced. Awareness of human rights & laws are crucial. #Susocialwork

@FolleboutLauren This is so tragic to read. So incredibly unfortunate that we have not accomplished further opportunities with technology & secure reliable information before convictions. #SUSocialwork

This would be an incredible positive shift in our Macro System within the schools & careers for students & adults. Mental health is a necessity! #SUSocialwork

BASW student & leader of Moms for Mental Health, @JillianAmodio advocates for MD law to provide mental health days for students (HB0461), stating in an interview "Our mental health is no less important than our physical health." @DelegateATW #SUSocialWork nbcwashington.com/news/local/mar…

@MollyFields_SU @GovLarryHogan So disappointing to see this! What is to come of the teachers, admin, & students if heaven forbid more school shootings arise as the country begins to reopen? We need advocacy for the protection of our school systems! #SUSocialwork

Upsetting to see this response from @GovLarryHogan. Police don’t belong in schools- social workers, counselors, and better funded programs + resources do. Lots of room for SW macro-level advocacy here #SUsocialwork

@AnnieBennett_SU This is such a great point Annie! While my office was able to accommodate this, I know plenty others whom were not as lucky to easily gain access to getting their shots. This needs to be taken into account if we want to better the health of our society! #SUsocialwork

@AshleymSusw Great article! Such an important topic! Majority of the population of youth clients I work with are exposed at such a young age to substance abuse from their family members or friends. Opens the gateway to beginning phases of peer pressure & using substance abuse #SUSocialwork

People suffering from Substance Use Disorder are one of the populations suffering the most from this pandemic, as MD reached 2,773 deaths last year, we must advocate & spread the word that help is STILL available! baltimoresun.com/health/bs-hs-d…

@charlotteSU2020 Great find Charlotte! This is somewhat relatable to our group project. The statistics of violence/crimes has only become increasingly worse during the pandemic. We must come together to find resolutions to prevent these acts of violence. #SUsocialwork

Agreed. I would like to look at statistics to see if the violence increased from covid or that the violence has always been this bad and is just now being noticed #SUSocialWork

@caley_bennett I just can’t even fathom why people are so hateful. The lengths we have to go to to prevent hate-crimes is unreal. Thanks for sharing! I had no idea how bad the racism against Asians had gotten. It’s just unfathomable to me. #SUsocialwork

@MollyFields_SU This is so important in our emergency response services! Emergency personnel such as Dispatchers, EMS, Fire, & Police are the first individuals responding to emergencies. It is vital they have proper training to help those with mental health needs #SUsocialwork

“The additional funding for new public safety solutions will also allow the city to continue upscaling important mental health, non-police response, and social service components in our emergency response system.”. 👏🏻 #SUsocialwork
The New York Times@nytimes

The Minneapolis City Council voted to move nearly $8 million from the Police Department’s proposed budget to other city services, but to keep the same number of officers. It’s the latest step to overhaul the department after the killing of George Floyd. nyti.ms/2Kb36C2

It's so disappointing to see that a survivor/victim of child abuse had to endure so much in a lifetime & unable to receive the appropriate mental health supports necessary before being evicted within the system herself. #Susocialwork

@nlaneSU20 Thank you for sharing this Nautica! That image was such a powerful representation of the population & financial statistics between incarceration & education. This needs to be shared/posted more than ever to show how crucial this topic is to our society.

Here is a depiction of an injustice showing the discrepancy between incarceration and education specifically among the black population. How do we move to more equitable practices?

@LaurenH45983799 Thank you for sharing this Lauren! This is so relatable to my social media plan; & so incredibly interesting that they may be able to give some effective relief to those suffering from PTSD. I hope to see positive results from this in the future!
