If the Dricus du Plessis vs Khamzat Chimaev fight at UFC 319 taught me anything it's that Gilbert Burns is better than the entire UFC middle weight roster.

It’s insane how many of the men who changed civilisation forever, were driven by near-lethal amounts of downright OCD level obsession. Complete fixation. It’s all they could think about. Would outright kill the spirit of the common man from sheer exhaustion alone.

No one swerves around the hazard on the road better than the guy distracted with the call with his divorce lawyer. Only time you beat a high score in a game is when you are zoned out and thinking about some other shit. Focus is not just overrated. It's a handicap. Only way to give a stellar performance is to be distracted. Everything works out for the type that always carries the cross no one sees.

Thesis on the decline of art: authors, musicians and filmmakers are, like us, always on their phones, and thus no longer forced to creatively contend with the silence and boredom that used to be an inescapable reality of everyday life

Self image is everything. You will rise or fall to the level of the image you have of yourself. But it’s important to remember that you are not your potential. You are who you are now, and your goal is to unleash your potential
Above & Beyond@soulquil

@ellobosalvaje Agreed. We act according to the self-image we have of ourselves. If it is negative, your actions will conform to that to reinforce your identity.

Listening to classical music makes babies smarter. Raises their IQ. We know this. But the reason WHY, is interesting: It’s because of what happens when the brain attempts to apprehend higher degrees of complexity. Just like when you were learning to speak. At first, words sounded like gibberish. But as your brain developed over time, you were able to transform what was once bizarre onomatopoeia into meaningful sounds capable of transmitting ideas and concepts. The same thing happens when the mind meets complexity. Between your ears, you possess a remarkable capacity for adaptation, in improving your ability to process whatever stimuli is in front of you. So when you hear classical music, you can imagine what might take place, as far as the regions of the brain that light up. Further, the same thing happens when you increase the reading level of the books you read. Most people read at a level of “cat bat mat hat”. Functionally illiterate. When you first expose yourself to more complex writing, it may actually take a second before your brain is able to effectively adjust and adapt to the increased reading level. It could feel like gibberish at first. But if you persist, and keep going, and do your best to really parse what is being said… eventually you feel it. It clicks. You get better. The adaptation is noticeable. It’s just like the gym. The reason lifting weights makes your muscles bigger is because the microfibres created during exercise signal to the brain: “Hey! So uh… we (the body) encountered a level of physical activity that we are currently unequipped to adequately deal with. We (the body) demand adaption. We must respond to meet these demands by increasing bone density and muscle mass.” And above all The same applies to your ability to process language. Best of all? The benefits of the brain gains you make from this, don’t end with language. But rather, result in a permanent increase in overall and general brain horsepower: As your ability to read increases, you’ll find that your ability to write upgrades alongside it. As a result of this, you can palpably and tangibly feel that even your everyday thinking transforms. It’s wild. You just have to push past the uncomfortable part (Just like the gym!) to achieve the adaptation. Go beyond the pain barrier.
