To visualise the gap between Market Value (what a player is paid) and Production Value (what their stats and impact suggest they are worth), the following graphic compares Draymond Green with other veteran and rising power forwards for the 2025-26 season. The "Legacy Tax" vs. "Surplus Value" This model uses the Win Share Valuation methodology ($4.1M per WS) adjusted for role-specific impact (Defence/Playmaking multipliers).

Do you have a model that gives an exact contract number appropriate for production/impact? Curious what Draymond’s number is at this point @Hooponomics

The Golden State Warriors won the first championship in professional basketball history. In 1947, as the Philadelphia Warriors, they won the inaugural Basketball Association of America title. The league became the NBA two years later. Every franchise in the sport traces its history back to that first season. The Warriors won it. Before Wilt. Before Rick Barry. Before Steph. The franchise was already a champion.

Rick Barry is the only player in professional basketball history to lead the NCAA, the ABA, and the NBA in scoring. Three different leagues. Three different eras. -He led the NCAA in scoring at the University of Miami in 1965. -He led the ABA with the Oakland Oaks in 1969. -He led the NBA with the Warriors in 1967. When he retired, he was sixth on the combined all-time professional scoring list.

He’s ready to go. He's ready to do what it takes to win. And show the rest of the world that.” (Via @JakeLFischer )

Andre Iguodala came off the bench for every regular-season game in 2014-15. He did not start once. In the NBA Finals against LeBron James, he started Games 4, 5, and 6. He averaged 16.3 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 4.0 assists. He won Finals MVP. He was listed at 125-1 odds before the series. He is the only player in NBA history to win Finals MVP without starting every game in the series. Nobody has come close since.

Nate Thurmond recorded the first official quadruple-double in NBA history. 22 points. 14 rebounds. 13 assists. 12 blocks. Only four players have ever done it. Thurmond was first. Hakeem Olajuwon, Alvin Robertson, and David Robinson are the other three. Nobody has done it since 1994. His number hangs in the rafters at Chase Center. Most fans under 40 have no idea who he is. That is a problem.

In 2015-16, Stephen Curry won the NBA MVP award with all 131 first-place votes. He is the only unanimous MVP in NBA history. Michael Jordan won five MVPs. He was never unanimous. LeBron James won four. Never unanimous. Magic Johnson. Larry Bird. Shaquille O'Neal. Giannis. Jokic. None of them got every vote. Curry got all of them. Once in league history. It happened here.

On February 10, 2017, Draymond Green recorded the first triple-double in NBA history with fewer than 10 points scored. His line: 4 points, 12 rebounds, 10 assists, 10 steals, 5 blocks. The Warriors won by 15. He took six shots. He never got to the free-throw line. He dominated the game from every angle that does not show up in a box score highlight, and then he dominated the box score, too. The Warriors outscored Memphis by 26 points with him on the floor. They were outscored by 11 with him off it.

The 2015-16 Golden State Warriors won 88 games, combining the regular season and playoffs. That is the most wins in a single season in NBA history, regular season and playoffs combined. The previous record was 87, held by the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls. The Warriors finished with 88 wins and still lost the championship. They blew a 3-1 Finals lead to Cleveland. They remain the only team in NBA history to win 73 regular-season games and not win the title. 88 wins. No ring. The cruelest season in franchise history.

In 2015-16, Klay Thompson made 276 three-pointers. That total would have been the single-season NBA record in any other year in league history. Ray Allen's previous record was 269. Klay broke that record and still finished second in the league. Stephen Curry had 402 threes that season. The two Splash Brothers combined for 678, which is more than most entire teams make in a season. In the same year. On the same team.

The 2007 Golden State Warriors went 42-40 in the regular season. In the first round of the playoffs, they beat the Dallas Mavericks, who had won 67 games and had the league's MVP in Dirk Nowitzki. Golden State became the first 8-seed in NBA history to eliminate a 1-seed in a seven-game playoff series. The Mavericks were healthy. There is no asterisk. No team has pulled off a bigger first-round upset since. Baron Davis dunked on Andrei Kirilenko. Oracle Arena lost its mind. The whole league was stunned.

The 1975 Golden State Warriors swept the Washington Bullets to win the NBA championship. The Bullets had the best record in the Eastern Conference. Golden State was the Western Conference's third seed. Nobody picked them to win 4-0. Rick Barry was named Finals MVP. It is widely considered one of the biggest upsets in NBA Finals history. Forty years before the dynasty, the Warriors were already capable of shocking the league. Most fans under 40 have never seen a single highlight from that series.
