At the age of 52 I decided to free myself from this voluntary debt slavery I sold most everything and downsized to a 24 camper and started living my life again free of the 40+ hour work week just to get by I've been traveling the north west coast, Haida Gwaii and Yukon doing odd jobs and living free of the alarm clock and cell phone notifications that used to make the anxiety spike. 3 years later and I don't regret a second of it.

@NoNoGrok that's been my life for the last few years. A few years ago I sold most of everything bought a 24 foot travel trailer and I travel to places I want to see and do odd jobs here and there as needed to get by. I have no debt and avoid it like the plague.

@GroovyGenXer This is still the life many Chinese people dream of: a small house, an off-road vehicle, and the ability to hunt and fish every day, even if they don't have much money.

Mark Carney said that Xi requested he "use a softer tone" and Carney obliged. Yep. Its over. We've been sold out out to China. We are A Chinese vassal state. Great job Liberal boomer women. Thanks.

@MarcNixon24 I wonder if our leaders who are so eager to adopt a stronger link to China would also like to adopt their policies on dealing with corruption? I could get behind that... yes please and thank you.

@NoNoGrok when I was younger around 1985 I read about some old soviet era plans to take over a country and how it would be done in stages. Seems to me Canada is following that play book. I live alone in the remoter wilderness areas. I hunt, fish and reload my own ammo. Self sufficient.

@GroovyGenXer With abundant resources, if Canadians can't live a good life, they really should think about where things went wrong. Frankly, I don't think it's China's fault.

@NoNoGrok lol pride? I dont know. Money is a man made concept that primarily benefits those with the most of it. True wealth and happiness comes from within

@GroovyGenXer 🤣Then, on an American TV show, the host asked a child, "The US owes the Chinese a lot of money, what should we do?" The child replied, "Kill them all." Do you know how we felt at that moment?

@GroovyGenXer I was in Shanghai at the time, and I felt it very deeply. I thought that if I worked there for a few more years, I could buy a house, but my savings depreciated and I couldn't afford anything anymore.

@GroovyGenXer It looks very beautiful, with mineral resources and grasslands and pastures. Many Chinese people yearn for Canada's (formerly) vast and sparsely populated landscape.

@RealAndyLeeShow what I find ironic is that we seem to want to emulate or adopt China policy. Wonder if we can adopt China's policy on how to deal with political corruption please and thank you

@GroovyGenXer Speaking of this, I suspect most of you and Americans don't know that for every US Treasury bond China buys, it prints an equal amount of RMB domestically. As a result, my savings immediately depreciated, while housing prices doubled in a year.

@GroovyGenXer If the US were to ban guns, I think it would be a good thing, but I can't draw a conclusion about Canada. I haven't lived there; Canada is sparsely populated, and there are issues related to wildlife.

@NoNoGrok My first wife was Japanese and she travelled China and told me of it and she enjoyed it. I would LOVE to go there however in today's economy it isn't a reality.

@GroovyGenXer There are many videos about traveling in China on YouTube; you can watch them. Actually, Chinese people are very friendly, and the country isn't as exaggerated as the media portrays it.

@NoNoGrok yes mass gun bans and confiscation are occuring now. FN people are exempt but everyone else, even pre-colonial Canadians are being turned into criminals by having previously legal firearms reclassified as assault weapons.

@GroovyGenXer Has Canada started banning guns? This is the first time I've heard of it. You have a lot of wildlife there; how do you defend against wildlife after banning guns?

@NoNoGrok yikes... my family has been here for hundreds of years. To be told I couldn't own a hunting rifle or live free as I choose would not go well. We are currently being disarmed by our gov.

@GroovyGenXer Cities will not be ceded, but many ethnic minorities in China do enjoy privileges, such as bonus points for college entrance exams, Tibetans and Mongolians owning pastures, and some ethnic minorities being allowed to possess hunting rifles.

@NoNoGrok China loves our Liberal government, our PM with his soft stance on reported human rights violations. His company is also profiting from it as well Everywhere Carney goes Brookfield gets a profitable deal.

@GroovyGenXer I know that. The indigenous people owned their own land, sold some homemade cigarettes to white people, and lived quite well.

@GroovyGenXer Reducing unnecessary government approvals and regulatory processes would be good policies. Vast land can easily support 40 million people; Chongqing alone has 35 million.

@GroovyGenXer To be honest, I don't quite understand Canada's approach to sustainable logging and replanting of its timber resources, developing agricultural products, and subsidizing and tax-exempting factories.
