I feel like STAR WARS broke JJ Abrams. He kinda had it all back in 2015, and then kinda ruined it when he came back for THE RISE OF SKYWALKER. His movie was an attempt to leap frog over the disaster that was THE LAST JEDI (a terrible and unmitigated disaster of a film), and then he hasn't done anything since. Its weird to see someone who is that "beloved" put into director's jail for cleaning up Kathleen Kennedy/Rian Johnson's mess. Still...THE FORCE AWAKENS is a banger of a film, an all time classic popcorn film, and try as he might, he couldn't recapture that while having to contend with the garbage that came before THE RISE OF SKYWALKER. JJ Abrams is a cautionary tale of "You're damned if you do. You're damned if you don't."

I think Suicide Squad worked for James Gunn decently because the weightage the characters shared was pretty much even, much like Guardians of the Galaxy. But in case of Superman, he tried very hard to draft and mould the movie into the same template, and failed. In a Superman film, Superman should obviously weigh more than other characters. And that’s where he messed up, because he’s so used to work with evenly weighed misfits coming together kind of scripts that he needed more characters who could take some load off Superman. He ended up sharing the weight among Superman, Terrific and Krypto almost equally, and then distributed the rest on to other justice gang members. The characters in Superman 2025 were not supposed to be evenly important unlike his previous scripts like Guardians of the Galaxy or Suicide Squad.

Is the Super Mario Bros sequel better than the original? No it is not. But the critics that are trashing on it clearly don't have siblings, or don't have kids. Or don't have any joy in their life

James Gunn is a one trick pony

Trailer looks terrible. You can already guess the entire movie without buying a ticket 🤷‍♂️ Just like Betaman — 'save Gunn's dog after he gets poisoned by the rocker'. Mini Star-Lord in DC. Copy and paste Entire DCU to his best work GOTG 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️ embrassing

Now you know why James Mangold bailed on Swamp Thing and every other creator attached to any of Gunn's DCU projects
