Saw Ben Fountain read and speak at Berkeley last evening (interviewed by redoubtable Mark Danner). The guy, on any number of subjects, is absolutely on fire. Civil and funny is an unbeatable combination. Worth seeing.

The scariest part of Project 2025 for higher ed is its dismantling of accreditation. Ron DeSantis could refuse to accredit public/private universities that teach sociology or gender studies or promote diversity, while accrediting diploma mills that don't.
