@latsondheimer The online high school in Pomona will need to play in the National Classic and Boras Classic and schedule other big boys (SJB / Norco) in order to sniff getting a rating high enough for D1. The league they play in is laughable. Look at the league stats in those games.

@SteveFryer Got to love the BPA lineup card. No shame in their game. The antics from today are blatant disregard for any authority and a complete mockery of high school baseball. Hopefully this actually opens the eyes of folks at CIF b/c at the end of the day they allowed this to happen.

Ganesha baseball coach Jared Sandler has not returned calls or text messages since the Pomona Unified explained that it reached out to the team and school officials and that it expects everyone to play.
I have received DMs and emails from parents telling me players are changing flight plans and that players are returning to play.
You will have to show up at 5:30 on Saturday to know for sure is where I leave this ...

BASEBALL: Chatted w/ Loyola coach Keith Ramsey and AD Chris O’Donnell about Saturday’s CIF final against Ganesha.
As of now, Loyola is preparing to travel and compete for a D2 title until they’re told otherwise.
Meanwhile, @SGVNSports says Ganesha is scrambling to field a team.

Ganesha athletic director Don Cayer says he will be the head coach of Saturday’s championship against Loyola, replacing Jared Sandler, who will be out of town with several prominent players for a BPA Camp.
Cayer said they’re practicing now and expects a roster of roughly 15, though was not specific of how many are varsity rostered players or players moved up from JV.

@latsondheimer @SGVNSports Ganesha is a mockery of high school baseball. I saw it first hand on Tuesday at the semifinal's. One of our parents asked a Ganesha player not to be mentioned where the restroom was and his response “I don’t know I don’t go here”. This is 100% the facts and disgraceful.

It's double dare time. If this happens, look for the Southern Section to come down with severe sanctions, from being banned from post season next season to Ganesha losing membership in the Southern Section. Let's see what happens.

BREAKING: The Ganesha baseball team is expected to have several players missing for Saturday's game against Loyola for the CIF-SS Division 2 championship at LoanMart Field in Rancho Cucamonga, including star pitcher Logan Schmidt, an LSU commit who is expected to be a MLB first round draft pick, sources are telling me on the condition of anonymity. Nearly the entire starting lineup will be at an out-of-state BPA (Baseball Performance Academy) camp that was previously scheduled, I am told. Nearly all of Ganesha's baseball players are part of Ganesha's online line program, and also part of the BPA Academy. Ganesha athletic director Don Cayer would not comment, other than to say they're scheduled to play on Saturday. Ganesha coach Jared Sadler has not returned calls or text messages .... Ganesha is expected to field a team for Saturday's championship against Loyola, but nearly all of the top players will be missing, I'm told. Ganesha asked the CIF-SS if they could play on Friday, but was denied. This is fluid. More to come.

@latsondheimer Start baseball season 2-3 weeks sooner and that will happen. Volleyball state regionals are now, not in another week +. Most schools get out end of May and gradation festivities and moving on to the next chapter in life is most important for the graduating seniors. Easy solution.

The expectation is next season when the CIF holds its first state baseball and softball championships (Northern California vs. Southern California) there will be fewer opt outs.

@SteveFryer Baseball season needs to start earlier. Many schools graduate at the end of May and graduation festivities and focusing on the next chapter of life for graduating seniors take priority. My guess is everyone would participate if the season was moved up by 2-3 weeks.

And I wonder if next school year, when the first CIF State finals in baseball and softball will happen, if opting out of the SoCal Regional happens less frequently, if at all ...

CIF Southern Section baseball semifinals are tomorrow. Division 1 semifinalists have qualified for the CIF Southern California Regional playoffs. Finalists in Divs 2-9 qualify for the SoCal Regional.
