@fesshole So true. I once worked for a health insurance company who pulled out a woman's file to search for a reason to stop paying for her cancer treatment mid-cycle. Had two people on the job looking for errors in the paperwork. Any excuse.

I work in insurance. You best hope you don't have to rely on private medical insurance as they'll refuse to pay for your cancer treatment over a minor mistake on an application and sleep like babies while you die

Lent started yesterday. This means the '40 Days for Life' campaign will ramp up its activities of harassing women outside abortion clinics across the UK. How much more do we have to take? We need Safe Access Zones, and we need them right now. bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotla…

The UK government’s decision to suspend funding to the UN’s humanitarian aid agency in Palestine — the UNRWA — is a diabolical act of collective punishment that could see thousands of Palestinians starve to death. We call on for immediate reversal of this appalling act.
Jeremy Corbyn@jeremycorbyn

Yesterday, the ICJ found a plausible risk of genocide in Gaza. Today, the UK has joined others in suspending funding to UNRWA. This is collective punishment — our government should be ashamed of its moral depravity toward Palestinians starving to death.

If these policies are for you: • Wealth Taxes • Nationalised NHS • £15 min wage • Scrapping the 2 Child Benefit Cap • Free Uni Tuition • Sanctuary for refugees • 1/2ml new council homes • A genuine & meaningful Green New Deal Then you belong in The Greens, not Labour.

In 1943, Franceska Mann arrived at Auschwitz. When instructed to undress, she intentionally did so provocatively, diverting the attention of the guards. In a daring act of resistance, she seized the roll call officer's firearm and fatally shot a Nazi guard named Josef Schillinger. She managed to injure another guard before tragically losing her own life.

Mick Lynch says an industry source has told him the treasury has spent £1.5bn on the rail dispute. Says taxpayer is subsidising attacks on @RMTunion as train companies are guaranteed income from the government. "It would cost a mere fraction of that to settle the dispute."

Just Stop Oil
Just Stop Oil@JustStop_Oil·
We've been asked to comment by press on Kier Starmer's piece in the Times this morning. Here is our comment, shared publicly: We can only hope that if Keir Starmer becomes our next Prime Minister that he will have a better grasp of the detail he has at present. Just Stop Oil is not calling for an immediate end to all UK oil and gas, but for a halt to granting new licences and consents. This is the same policy that Labour has signed up to. However, Labour's failure to commit to revoking Rishi Sunak's planned 100 new oil and gas licences should they come to power, means that their pledge to end new oil and gas is meaningless. They are indistinguishable from the criminal Conservatives. It is obvious that our politicians and corporations have no intention of acting in accordance with the fundamental interests of either our young people or the country as a whole. This means that civil resistance is no longer an option, it is a necessity. In late October, thousands of people will join Just Stop Oil in London to march on the roads, and we will not stop until we win. Just Stop Oil

Currently sat on a delayed 8hr train from the Scottish highlands to Bristol. Flying would have been a lot cheaper and quicker - but with the environmental cost…. Well here I am, sat on a train. It makes me so angry that we all try are hardest to make small differences every day. Something they’ve encouraged us to do, saying it’s our responsibility to change… whilst they’re approving new oil and gas mining licenses in the North Sea. No words. Anyone else feeling desperate - like this could be the final straw?
