@muckfansanto Yes, price includes processing and packaging cost (vacuum sealed & flash frozen). We’ve bought a half from the same farmer for several years now and always very happy with the quality. Compared to what I’d pay for comparable 🐄 by the cut in stores here we are getting a steal!
English

@HealthRadix Does that include processing? We pay $4.00/lb grass fed organic. Doesn’t include processing which varies with the cuts.

It's not yet illegal to notice, but it is 23 years too late.
(It's challenging to get 23 years of lost-freedom back, and to roll back the surveillance and right-restrictions, Patriot Act, et al)

Don't fucking care. Pry the rare beef from my cold, dead hands.

⚠️NO RARE BEEF!—@USDA suddenly admits (after Q&A pestering) that 120F cooked beef🥩patties experimentally inoculated with H5N1 virus still had surviving virus. ➡️“Cooking to… 120° F did show that there was virus still in the cooked hamburger patty, although at reduced levels."

@LucidUnity0 Seems like, not too long ago, that was closer to what we were paying. Costs for everything in this blue state hell are higher
English

@HealthRadix Most local farmers here sell pastured beef at about $6.25/lb.
Half cow is about 200 lbs. so that's around $1250 with a quarter of that down as deposit
Pastured cattle that are grain finished, but you can request grass finished
English

@ladystormbreak1 Wow, I’m envious. I’ve seen quarters & halves being sold here, in S.E. PA, for $11-$13 /lb, with farmers selling out. PA has some of the highest overall food inflation on food in the US. Grain and hay prices here are no joke either. Feed costs for our poultry have skyrocketed

@foolishly @AmberLakeFarm Unless she’s taking roids lol
I made hay, just once, yrs ago…on a 95 degree day. The bale kicker broke halfway through and by the end of the day I couldn’t lift a square bale 2 ft off the ground. Never been so hot, sore, and itchy before or since. God bless the haymakers!

@genXgardner I have noticed the gland is larger and more pronounced on some of our girls than others. Hope it’s nothing more serious—Good luck!
English

@HealthRadix I need to look into this and will double check. They get scratch but main source is layer pellet. Thanks for passing, good intel
English

@AmberLakeFarm Ours haven’t done much yet this year—it’s been cold and wet all spring. I am trying to remain hopeful though, elderflower champagne is one of my favorites 🤞
English

@genXgardner Preen gland can become infected (lack of vit A from high seed diet can also cause issues with it) poultrydvm.com/condition/urop…
English

@genXgardner You sure it’s not her Preening glad (Uropygial gland)? The gland is a bump, located near the base of the tail. You probably notice it now because she’s broody and her feathers are all ruffled up as a result.
