So Trump is vigorously embracing the notion that the characters M, S, 1, 3 were tattooed on Abrego Garcia’s knuckles. He is clearly not arguing that symbols (e.g., marijuana plant for M) stood for those letters. I thought a week ago that the White House was making this very argument, but folks pointed out to me that it (sloppily) superimposed the characters just to explain what the tattoos meant, and they argued that no one but an idiot could think otherwise.
