@Zaddy_Abdul What is your thought about the proposed health sector regulatory bill ?

Health workers converged at Unity Fountain in Abuja,
marched to the National Assembly protesting today against the proposed Health Sector Regulatory Bill.
These bills have passed first reading in the Nigerian Senate and are currently before the National Assembly.
JOHESSU is demanding amendments or rejection of the bills.
The core issue is a provision that would subject all medical and allied health professions (including nurses, pharmacists, laboratory scientists, physiotherapists, and others) to regulation by the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN).
JOHESU argues that:
Each health profession already has its own established regulatory body to maintain professional standards and practice.
The bill would undermine the autonomy of these bodies.
It would effectively make non-physician health professionals "second-class" to medical doctors, imposing what they call "regulatory apartheid" or subordination.

Honestly,
I prefer being called Pharm than Dr. or better still just call me by my name .
Purity®@adeyemi_purity
I still don't understand why Pharm.D prefers using the Dr. prefix instead of Pharm..

@RitaOnwurah The last movie (Ikemefuna Nwa Boi) acted by STAN NZE was a mess of Igbo culture.
I hope due diligence was before putting this out .
Our culture shouldn't be altered for entertainment.

Most APC Senators , Akpabio and Co didn't contest senatorial Primaries but is currently a serving senator but PETER OBI who was involved in LP Primaries is not qualified?
Not surprised this is coming now ,
they are watering the ground to make sure he isn't on the 2027 ballot.

Nigeria 🇳🇬 Pharmacists' Pathway to Canada 🇨🇦 Licensure:
PEBC Evaluation Route (most common for practicing pharmacists):
1. Credential Assessment — PEBC EE:Apply to the Pharmacy Examining Board of Canada (PEBC) for an Evaluating Examination. Submit your degree, transcripts, and proof of Nigerian registration. PEBC will assess your credentials against Canadian standards.
2. Education Requirement: Your Nigerian B.Pharm or Pharm.D must be assessed as substantially equivalent to a Canadian entry-to-practice program. A five-year or Pharm.D program is generally favoured. Four-year B.Pharm holders may face additional scrutiny — contact PEBC directly.
3. Language Proficiency: Demonstrate English proficiency via CELBAN, IELTS, or equivalent. Being Nigerian-trained helps, but the test is still typically required. Check your target province's score thresholds.
4. PEBC Evaluating Examination (EE): A written multiple-choice exam covering pharmaceutical sciences, pharmacy practice, and therapeutics — based on Canadian standards. This is the main knowledge gateway for internationally trained pharmacists.
5. Structured Practical Training (SPT): After passing the EE, complete supervised practical training under a licensed Canadian pharmacist. Hours and structure vary by province.
6. PEBC Qualifying Examination (QE) Parts I & II: QE Part I is written; QE Part II is an OSCE (practical, scenario-based). Both must be passed — the same exams Canadian graduates sit.
7. Provincial Jurisprudence Exam: Each province has its own pharmacy law exam. Ontario, BC, and Alberta each have distinct requirements. Must be passed in the province where you intend to practice.
8. Provincial Licensure:Apply to your target province's regulatory college (e.g., Ontario College of Pharmacists, College of Pharmacists of BC). Requirements differ by province — always check the specific college website.

@DrEffiong_John @HubWendy You see how you have comfortable labelled a quack as a Pharmacist without proper investigation.
This is where the change should start.
The egarness to put each other down is the reason our health system in this demograph ain't getting better because we focus on frivolities.
English

@HubWendy You're right, we may never know the qualification of the person. Our society doesn't punish wrongdoing and that's why quackery has become a menace. May God help our people
English

Is there something I’m missing? Ain’t Pharmacist licensed to prescribe certain meds or they only legally authorized to dispense, import, manufacture, and compound dru g s?
I feel it’s just all about maintaining boundaries and working within their scope.
I’m lost!😮🙄

The rate at which Pharmacist now consult and prescribe medication In Nigeria 🇳🇬 When you enter some pharmacies you will think you just entered a primary health care facility. But we are not yet ready for the conversation. There are levels to this issue of medical quackery on Nigeria. 🇳🇬
